PSA DNA authentication failure: WTF?

Take a look at this ball:

When I look up the number, it's not showing in the database.

Any idea why?

Not too hard to fake a sticker. I had the same thing happen to me on an autographed jersey once.

  • That's pretty low. If someone actually did print up stickers for PSA/DNA they're first-ballot Scumbag HOFers.

Funny, that "Lou" didn't look right to me.

Sportslot is the seller. I've emailed them.
  • I have a couple of things that do not come up in the system. I am really not too worried about it. You can always call customer service to see if they can give you any information. I e-mailed them about a month ago about a cert # and never heard from them (surprise, surprise). But I would be interested to hear what sportslot has to say since one of the items I have is from them and it is not listed in the system. It came with a sticker and the under $50 authentication form (just a card, not a full letter).
    Thanks

I have several brock's that I personally obtained in the 80's at fantasy camps and they sure don't look like that

Ummm...couldn't someone simply print up a fake sticker with a number that matches the autograph?
  • Here is the autograph I picked up from "sportslot" on ebay. It has the PSA/DNA sticker but is not in the online database. I don't know much about Brock autographs, but I would feel pretty confident with a seller who has a feedback score over 9800. I could be wrong though. I have an e-mail in to PSA and I will let you know what they say when I get an answer.

  • I was looking in the wrong database. My Ching Johnson (from sportslot) is in the PSA/DNA database, but the Lou Brock is not. I still have another autographed piece that is not in the database that I am pretty sure is real and waiting for an answer from PSA on. I would think if the Brock is fake sportslot was not the person who submitted to PSA/DNA.

  • ive never had anything authenticated, ive gotten all my autos in person and I'm not in the habit of paying for signatures.... so PSA slaps a STICKER on your ball?photo/ bat. huh. doesnt that deface the item thats been autographed?

I've purchased footballs DIRECTLY from the NFL and the sticker didn't come up in the database.

If you contact PSA and desribe your item (assuming it's legit), they will fix the issue.

  • Stown is correct. My other item that has a PSA/DNA sticker but is not in the system is a 16x20 signed by the Miracle on Ice team and Herb Brooks. I just sent PSA my the LOA that came with the picture and they said the system should be updated within 24 hours, but they have been having trouble getting all the updates in.
    Thanks
