Yukon centennial gold coin

I have a numbered gold coin from Canada's Yukon. The coin is marked 1867 - 1967. I do believe that the coin was struck in 1966.

Anyone have any information on this coin. It was left to me by my father. Oh it has a number on it which my father explained to me, was a sort of registration number, the number is 438

Cheers and thanks in advance.

I did some quick Internet searches can couldn't find anything on it. Is there any other material on it? Is the card printed on the backside? Does it say what purity it is?

One problem with modern, privately-issued medals is that they are uncatalogued and it's very easy for there to be little or no easy-to-access information.
  • no the card doesn't have anything on the back. Also there is no purity struck into the coin. But I spent 25 years working as a jeweler and can almost be sure that it is 24k

Yeah I did a number of searchs for it on the net myself before coming to this forum....

Perhaps a letter to the Yellowknife chamber of commerce in the Yukon is in order, they might shed some light on things.

That's probably the right direction and could yield results if it was struck there. You might also see if there is a town historian, museum or cultural center.

I was just researching a medal struck in Alaska and found some information issued by the town's museum. I was lucky in that they had that information published in a pdf file that Google found.
