Im a diehard mets fan. yesterday's win was great.....BUT It showed how clueless willie still is at in game managing.

burgos had a 11-13 pitch at bat to utley and got him out. first base was open. felciano was warming up. no way you pitch to howard in that spot.

also what is the point of endy chavez running for green in the 8th. he should of ran for alou. it all worked out but it could of easily backfired. i hope willie learns from those mistakes.

Should have walked Howard also, when i saw that ball fly I thought the game was over.

Mets won tonight against the Phillies, score was 5-3.

Anyone know whatever happened to Pedro Martinez? I haven't heard anything about him lately.

He's out till the All Star break at least, most likely won't return till August as he rehabilitates his torn right rotator cuff.

Lucklily for the Mets, they can afford to have him well rested, as the pathetic Phils obviously are more dangerous in the off season than they are when the games actually count!

He's the best leadoff hitter in the majors at this point, even better than the almighty Grady Sizemore! image

Great comeback win tonight, CLUTCH pinchhit by Franco (his first this season) and Wagner's becoming automatic. image

Mets are set to coast again this year to repeat their NL East title.

wasnt very impressed with pelfrey tonite.

he still needs work. 95 mph fastball. he should be getting 7 k's a game at least. first start i no. but it was against the worst team. hopefully he proves me wrong in his next couple starts.

I'm willing to give him a pass tonight--it was very cold out there and a tough night to be out there.

Today the Nationals put up a fight and shot a couple homers. Still don't understand the umpire's call to throw out El Duke, that pitch wasn't intentional.

    Mets lost today......=(

Mets winning against the Marlins so far in the 4th inning, 7-2.

Best part the fans are cheering for the Mets and not the Marlins.

I miss Pedro and want to see him in a Met uniform soon.

Mets win 6-2 against the Nationals yesterday. Anyone see those 2 calls from the 1st base umpire? I think the guy was being very unfair back to back calls like that. Willie Randolph was ejected out of the game for arguing against the 1st base umpire.

John Maine is pitching today with a perfect record on the line, lets see what he can do.
  • GonblottGonblott Posts: 1,951 ✭✭
    METS WIN TODAY!

John Maine pitched another great game, he is now 4-0.

Beltran hits a solo homer in the 6th inning and the game ends 1-0.

    GO METS!

It's true, man! Last report I heard last week was that he feels stronger than ever, like he did in the late 90s, and that he'll be throwing off a mound next month, with a return date of early August. He's also added about 15 pounds of muscle to his frame.

As much as I want him back on the field, I'll wait for him to make full recovery. If you take the time to heal up properly then your set but if you go in to fast you might end up like Wang or Pavano.
  • perkdogperkdog Posts: 30,658 ✭✭✭✭✭
If he put on 15 pounds then thats a good thing, I would like to see Pedro get back into the swing of things. I read a piece on him a week ago and reffering to his recovery he stated that his career will not be prolonged any longer but he will be back to pitch. Whatever he meant by that Im not sure but it will be nice to see him suit up again.

Well the stupid popcorn call ended up being a home run, METS STILL WIN IT 5-3!

Maine is now 5-0 but tonight he didn't look too confident as usual.

Actually, this win was even more impressive, IMO, as he proved that he can not only get through a game where he doersn't have his best stuff, but actually even dominate by only giving up 1 ER. Cy Young?

Nice win tonight fellas. That was a really fun game to watch. I know Delgado was the big hero with the two homers, but man, watching Jose Reyes is just flat out exciting. When he took the count to 3-0 in the 12th, the crowd was buzzing. It was like they knew that as long as he got on base that the Mets would tie the game.
