A very special Thanks to Packman, Bunker, and others....

Packman and I recently arranged a trade of some dozen or so various Heritage SP's that we each needed from each other.

My boy and I have been anxiously awaiting the cards because they will complete our set! (we are only doing the base set plus the SP's and Yellows)

Well today I send the boy into the PO to get our mail and I see him carrying a box and a bubble mailer. The bubble mailer was from another very kind member, Jdurg, and included a Jeter rookie and a pack of Topps for my son in exhange for some of our extras to help him on his 07 normal set.

I see that the box is from Packman and think to myself..."Geez, he must have really wanted to protect those SP's". The boy and I came home and opened the box. It contained 2 sealed envelopes along with the SP's. The one envelope wishes me well on the 33 Goudeys and I open it to find a #98 Walter Berger in PSA4!!!!!!!!!!! The other envelope is marked for my son. He opens it and it contains (3) 1979 PSA topps...Munson, Ozzie, and Brett AND an Upper Deck Arod game used jersey card!!!!

Needless to say I am a little shocked by this. What a fantastic surprise. The generosity around here is shocking to say the least! I have had a few of you send stuff for my son that deserve to be noted such as Onlyanumber sending him a #40 Jeter card that we have still never pulled! And Bunker! Bunker is a GREAT guy as well that has taken very good care of my boy!

Thanks to everyone that we've traded with over the past few weeks and a huge thanks to those of you that have sent things for my boy and asked for nothing in return! He thoroughly enjoys all of it!!!!! Ahhh to be 9 again would be great!

  • It was my pleasure. I loved putting the '33 Goudey set together. It is a classic and I enjoy seeing your set grow.

My dad got a kick out of my boy and I doing the 07 Heritage set together....because back in 1958 was when HE started buying BB cards!!!!

We might get him interested next year if they do the '59's! That was his big year for buying as a kid.

So basically my kid won't be able to go to college, but at least I'll have a set where the three most expensive cards are of a player I despise ~ CDsNuts

I agree. Everybody around here I have traded with has been fantastic. Goose3, jmoran19, MuckyMutt, jskirwin, mreuter, jamesgotpoorman, bunker, and especialy cwazzy. Cwazzy sent me a PM stating that he had a bunch of the 2007 Topps Base Cards that I needed and just asked for my address. A short while later I received a package in the mail with a bunch of 2007 Base Cards that I needed and nothing asked for in return. Simply incredible. It's so nice that everybody here cares so much about how everybody else is doing with their collection and willing to donate items to help a fellow collector out. Everybody should be commended for that.

I'm happy to help you out Goose. As I said in my PM, there's nothing better than knowing my extra Jeter card is in the hands of a collector who will cherish it and will get a ton of enjoyment from it. image
I collect the elements on the periodic table, and some coins. I have a complete Roosevelt set, and am putting together a set of coins from 1880.
  • D*mn, I need to rent me a 10 year-old kid! image

Seriously, this board has the best people!! I've done more trading in the past 2 years than I did in the 50 years prior. Not only is it fun to collect the cards, but also to share the experience with others that are as crazy about it as I am.

You are very welcome. Your son is the same age I was when I started collecting back in 73 and I remember how excited I use to get (and still do image )

My daughter was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 2 (2003). My son was diagnosed with Type 1 when he was 17 on December 31, 2009. We were stunned that another child of ours had been diagnosed. Please, if you don't have a favorite charity, consider giving to the JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation)
