OT: Any advice on the best place to buy MLB tickets?

I have to imagine you all will have some great advice for me! I'm starting to price out some tickets for a game this year (Reds tickets) and I'm curious where the best place to pick up some great seats with the best prices. I've already checked out Stubhub.com, MLB.com, and of course Ebay... I refuse to pay Ticket Master's rediculous fees. I'm not crazy about Ebay, but would use it if it's the best option. Anybody had great success elsewhere that I can check out?

Thanks in advance for any help!

  • Don't know of any good ones, but I would definitely say DO NOT buy from FrontlineTickets.com. They're based out of Georgia, I believe. It's run by one or two guys and they're both horrible at customer service. I ended up filing a BBB complaint against them.

I've got some friends that swear by stubhub.
I've had good luck with Craigslist, and I believe some teams have a ticket exchange board on their websites for season ticket owners to dump unwanted games.

I'll second StubHub and Craigslist. I've had great success both as a buyer and seller on both sites.

Craigslist (in some markets such as San Francisco) can be great for last-minute buys. I was in Seattle last year and was able to score a pair of lower deck seats for half face on the day of the game. Later on the same trip I was looking for tickets to see The Who in Vancouver BC and found a couple of sellers stuck with floor seats for $50 under face each. However I got turned back at the border (long story) and didn't make the show (but I hadn't yet bought the tix so nothing but time lost).

    StubHub guarantees delivery.

Craigslist is more buyer beware, but if you use common sense it's a great resource.

This I would love to hear, if you're willing to share, either here or pm. I've been turned back at a couple of borders but was able to get thru with a small "tribute". I can't imagine this would work in this hemisphere though.

    Sorry for the hijack.

I suggest stubhub, Craig's List, the team's site, or walk-up to the stadium.

We went to the 'Stros game last Wednesday. Had a couple of beers and waited till the end of the 2nd inning. Got $20 seats for $5 a ticket from a broker/scalper outside of the stadium image

Thanks ALL! I'll keep my eye's peeled on Stubhub then... Craig's list isn't used much around here (that I've noticed.) I'll look into the Team's site for a possible season-ticket holder area too.. maybe I'll get lucky!

I agree with stown, wait until the game starts and then pick up tickets in the parking lot. You can get good tickets super cheap that way. Good luck.
  • eBay is probably the best like you already stated. Just about 2 weeks ago, I got a $38-dollar Braves home opener seat for a BIN of $34

I bought some Cub's tickets on Stubhub last summer. Everybody was selling bleacher seats for $100 each or more so I bought a few. Ended up needing a few more and bought them at one of the bars by the stadium on game day for $50 each. If you can't wait until game day then I suggest Craigslist, Ebay, local paper.
