What a waste of $2k!

Why don't people figure this stuff out? Why isn't there an easy way to report listings like these?
Horrible Scam Auction
I see dozens of these every week. There ought to be a feedback/flagging system where other users can weigh in when an item is a scam.

<< <i>The poster never once said the card was fake. Look at the sellers most recent feedback...that could be what the poster is referring to. >>
Ohhhh thanks for clearing that up. If it's true........what a dirtbag!!!!! I guess I have a lot to learn when it comes to what to look for with auctions. Thanks to you "old" guys (old being a relative term since I'm 16) I have already learned a ton in the month or so that I've been a member.
<< <i>So let me get this straight--the seller of this card was the winning bidder of the same card from another seller but never made good on payment, but then turned around and is attempting to sell this same card to someone else using the previous seller's photo? Wow. >>
Yep - took me a bit to figure it out as well. Guess he figured the seller wouldn't post that. But this scammer will soon be back with another ebay name with some other scam. These people really do need to be prosecuted for this stuff - this is ATTEMPTED ROBBERY - plain and simple! If he's a punk underage kid, which it appears he is, then the parents need to fined and held responsible.

I agree with all of your last paragraph except for the last sentence. If it is a punk kid doing this in his bedroom or wherever I am not sure how much the parents know what is going on. Parents can only police their kids so much. After all even if his or her web use is monitored eBay is hardly a porn site or how to steal a car site.

Parents are legally responsible for their children's behavior. You're right - the parents probably do not know what's going on - they will know if an effort is made by law enforcement to contact the residents at the address. And if appropriate a fine should be levied against the parents who are responsible for their child's criminal behavior.
Scamming activity such as this needs to start being prosecuted...the word will get out about this and you'll see a lot less scams on ebay if potntial thieves know that there will be consequences to their actions. Right now for the most part there are no consequences so they have no incentive not to keep right on doing it.
<< <i>if the seller doesn't have the card, then is this pic a fake?
That's a good point and I didn't miss that pic - these kids today are getting so good with computers and photoshop techniques...this could very well be and probably is...a decent photoshop job to fool people into thinking he has the card.
What I don't get is how people will bid on cards like Ruth, Cobb, or other high value gems from sellers who have zero or just a couple of feedbacks. Even worse, for me, the tip off is when the guy only takes money orders or checks. In this case, the guy takes Paypal as well, but is unverified so insurance is only extended up to $200. Simple rule for me: I always pay Paypal, and I would never pay more than $2k (Paypal insurance limit) unless the seller is highly reputable with tons of feedback and I know who they are (bbcexchange, etc). Even then, you've got to use a credit card to pay through Paypal in order to get the insurance from your card provider in case you never receive the item.
You've just got to use common sense on these things. How does someone that can afford a couple of thousand dollars for a Ruth, who has to be a serious collector, not figure that out?
Just my .02...
