I think it looks great for PSA 7. It's already up to $700+.

  • P.S.

    The 7 looks like a "7."

The 9 looks really sharp, could easily be a 10 per the scan.
  • ok...at the risk of sounding like a moron...check out the lower left corner of the 9 and tell me if you don't think it's less than ideal.
    I'm liking the 7...

The 7 looks like a nice 7. The 9 looks like an 8 to me. Don't some people say something about buying the card, not the holder? image

Hmmm. Didn't notice that. It glanced at the image and thought it may be due to scanner artifact/glare. Probably best seen in person. I'm sure this card is carefully scrutinized, so I seriously doubt the corner is touched. The centering is what I was mainly referring to as being 10 quality. The scanner can't distort that.
  • I think you might be missing the key ingredient here. The image-quality is absolutely unreal on the 9. The3 bluntness of the LL is there--but the enamel is in tact. The card likely garners an SGC 92 grade which is common for many PSA MINT 9 cards. I don't have any problem with that card grading MINT 9.
I feel the NM 7 is generously assessed. That card would grade EX/MT from "FrazierGradingServices"image Nice card, but that MINT 9 is something very special.

That 7 may bring the highest price ever for an Orr RC 7.

A lot of bidders are gonna drop off the 9 as bidding soars. They'll most likely throw a bid on the 7.

    I wish it were mine!

    Just my thoughts, Bob C.

No way I'm paying $19000 for a mediocre 9. It's the card and the grade..not just the grade.
  • No way I'm paying 19K for anything made of cardboard!

I just wanted to say that I think the Orr MINT 9 is a very strong MINT 9. I didn't mean to imply the SGC 92 as a way of stating otherwise. It depends what you value most in a card. I value appearance over technical merit. I have found that SGC 92's are the greatest bargain if you pay attention to what's in the casket. The bluntness of the corner and lightest stock imperfections can lower an otherwise perfect card to a 92 in New Jersey. I seriously doubt that you would ever see, EVER, see an SGC 98 of the Orr rookie. Are there any? For that matter, are there any 10's from PSA?
In the end, both cards are very nice. I've said it many times here and elsewhere; the post-war PSA NM 7 is a very underrated card.
  • I agree with DGF.
  • >> have found that SGC 92's are the greatest bargain if you pay attention to what's in the casket<<
I totally agree...I am composing a 63 fleer set and have several 92's that are nicer than the few 9's I have. As a collector it's OK...but as an investor it bums me out that PSA is the 800 pound gorilla and that SGC ( for example) get dis-respected....

The PSA 9 Orr is the only MINT Orr graded by any grading company that is not a recent sheet cut. Multiply $19,000 by 5 or 6 and you will have the final selling price.

IMO, the LL corner is not touched, it is just some extra fuzzy material located just about the corner. It is giving the appearance that the corner is touched.
  • I can't believe some of the bids already.

$65k for the Delong Gehrig SGC 92.

The Topps Gretzky PSA 10 rookie is already at $8,500.

    For the Orr...$121k.
