    Zef,

    Please enlighten us -- what's going on with it all? The auction looks ok to me, but I'm clearly missing something.
    I have no idea what those Lambert cards sell for , but there's more to it than that, I'm thinking. Trimmed stuff? What? Easter Morning suspense!
    I'm curious because I almost bought a mid-70's hockey set from them this week. It looked ok, and wasn't going to sell for more than $65

    NESC is 4SC's dumping ground.

    There will never be anything worth grading in their auctions because if there was, 4SC would have graded and sold it already.

    I agree, however it may be a great place to buy if your looking for raw and wanting to keep it raw? As long as you do not overpay that is. last week they had some hi numbered 66's up and it went for more then I was willing to pay. My goal was to keep them for my raw 66 set.

    That's a very valid point. Just know that centering, surface flaws and nicked corners are coming from their "VENDING LOTS".

    I still think that 4SC should change the name of NESC to "2 Sharp Corners" to reflect the quality of the cards they dump.

    Also, the O/C Lambert card on top of the scan (that hides the rest of the cards, of course) is probably the nicest one of the bunch.

    It always did seem a bit shady that they use a separate ID to sell this off grade raw stuff - I wouldn't mind it so much if they actually sold the lots under one of the many 4SC ID's they have. Of course, they would never get $142.05 for lots like this that way.

    I guess that explains the 77 vending box I bought off them. The cards pretty much sucked and the ones that looked worthy of grading came back (didn't meet min size).

    That means that you will get 550 cards out of a 660 card set. The other number is just some sort of code that NESC/4SC puts in all of their auction titles. That's how they probably keep track of what they are selling and where it might be located at their office/warehouse.
    I have bought some lots of cards to use for TTM autographs and for that purpose they are fine. But I would never buy anything from them and think I could get it graded. If it was grade worthy they would have pulled it.

    I bought a '78 football vending lot from them a year ago or so. 20% of the cards had visible surface creases, rendering them uncollectible, and the other 80% were in the EX-MT/NM range. I voice my displeasure in an email, to which Roger responded with an offer of a 20% refund of the hammer price and the insistence that 'those cards were mint when I sent them out'. Right-O. So I guess my mailman snuck off behind the drugstore on his daily rounds, opened the box and carefully creased 100 of the cards before carefully wrapping the package back up and delivering it to me. Sillly me-- why didn't I think of that?

    I bought a lot of 1980 #450 largent cards from them, noticed when I got the box it was the exact same address as 4 SC.

    Open the box, none of the 20 cards I was hoping to pull a good grade from were in any shape, all O/C, bad corners, etc. I figured out really quick that it was the dumping ground for 4 SC. Learned my lesson the first time around, cheap lesson I figure.

    I gave them all out as Christmas cards to all my friends who know I collect Largent cards. Ended up kind of fun.

    I learned 2 and a half years ago to not touch NESC with a 1 mile long pole. I got severely hosed on a 1978 vending box ...... the worst O/C and print flawed cards I have ever seen in 1978 Topps. What really PISSED me off was that more then a few of the cards had wax stains .....

    I almost pulled the trigger on a couple of NESC lots until I read about how they are the same company as 4SC from this Message board


    I am right now working on a complete run of raw 1970's sets. I have noticed that for some reason when dealers use the word

    VENDING

    in the describtion they seem to get a major premium for their raw cards.. imageimage

    I have always liked how NESC does not describe their cards except that they are from "vending".... I suppose this protect them since they never assigned a grade to the cards only described were they were obtained from.

    I guess in peoples mind vending=mint.

    Wow,
    Thanks for the info, and I thought I was the only one burned by them. I bought two lots of Non Sport Topps 1958 TV Westerns two monthes ago from them. Spent just shy of $300 for the two lots advertised as Vendor Stock, same old story, I get the cards and they have bent damaged corners, out of one lot of 29 cards, there are only 6 different numbers, 23 of them are so Off Centered to be worthless, some so bad as to have the next card showing in the cut. How do Rip-Off artists like this stay in Business. Just enough info in the listing to not out and out Lie, but so misleading that you really can't go back on them. I will never, ever, I mean Ever buy anything from them again and now I know that they are 4SC the same goes for them as well. And I spend Thousands a year on cards, don't they care or do they just have enough suckers to get us all one time ??????

    It wouldn't be so bad if they were honest and listed the cards as 'NM' or 'EX-MT to NM' condition. However, when they say 'vending' and imply they are randomly pulled from virgin vending boxes, they are misleading the bidders. I have vending stock that I cherry picked but when I list it on eBay, I'm honest about the condition and centering. I still get decent prices for it and the winners are pleased that the lots are accurately described. I think in the long run, accurate descriptions will help to maintain strong auction closes. Deceptive descriptions will likely yield stronger closing prices in the short term but weaker ones in the long term when everyone catches on to their practices.

    For NESC, they likely won't get many bids from PSA forum readers. In fact, I too was watching a few of their auctions in the past but steered away from them after reading comments on this forum.

    Lets get this straight before it gets out of hand

    4 Sc is awesome, I have bought no less than 200 cards in the last year alone from them. They track well, ship awesome ( their boxes are great for re gifting) and have an awesome selection of cards.

    I think some mud slingin is going on for 4sc, that belongs to NESC. Albeit, they are the same entity in spirit, but if you are rolling the dice, buying loose cards hoping to pop a grade, its just that, a gamble. I gambled with them once, learned my lesson, and will never do it again.

    But as far as 4sc goes, Im bidding on 4 cards of theirs right now. I actaully breathe a sigh of relief when I see them as the seller, I know Im not buying from a fly by nighter

    I think it depends on the relationship between 4SC and NESC. If they are one in the same, then I think that would reflect badly on 4SC. If 4SC simply sells their excess stock to NESC and there is no relationship between the two, then I say that absolves 4SC. In the first case, it would be similar to a reputable pack dealer created an alternate ID to sell off their questionable packs.

    Why wouldnt Roger at 4SC try to distance himself from that? Seems odd for such a good guy and a a good company to have an arm of itself that gets such bad publicity

    I don't buy from either 4sc or NEsC because I find they discriminate against us Canadians, FYI.
    They don't accept Pay Pal from Canadians (even with a verified address, US funds payment and 50+ buyer reputation points). And they charge and inexplicable extra $5.00 for Canadian orders (not taking into account increased shipping fees, which are normal). Doesn't seem very fair to me. Which is why I'll never buy from them.
