Who else is PUMPED that they can get this on cable! I was bummed because I do enjoy following the Red Sox and other cool match ups during the year. I know Cablevision has not picked it up yet but I have it!

I bought Direct tv 8 years ago for the specific reason of getting the MLB package. It was the only option then and is the only option now for me.

Anyone know what the cost of this is? I was able to flip around today on the free preview and I am interested.

I believe its $159 for the whole season, if you order it fairly soon. My cable company actually breaks it up and charges me approx $40 a month for 4 months. It's a fantastic thing to have, and thank goodness MLB came to its senses and worked a deal with inDemand to carry it. They would have alienated a lot of loyal fans if they stuck this package only on Directv.

Yeah, this is great news if you are a Dish Network subscriber.

Link that Details How Service is NOT available to Dish Network Subscribers

Hey, I have more baseball than I can handle (Cubs, Sox, ESPN, Fox), but some are left out in the cold. This is un-American if true.

Sadly, that is true - it looks like Directv got exclusive satellite rights, and MLB wisely made nice with the much larger cable audience.

The only think I will miss as a Dish Network subscriber is the free trial, which I enjoyed at the beginning of the season and after the all-star break.

I love how DirectTV says you can switch to its service to get MLB Extra Innings. A couple of problems:

    (1) What about the $800 people paid for the HD-DVR Dish Network Receiver?
    (2) What about the early termination fees that Dish Network imposes?
    (3) The cost of removing the old Dish Network dishes and installing Direct TV hardware?
    (4) How much is the HD-DVR offered by DirectTV?

I think for a lot of folks, it becomes cost-prohibitive.

Yes, Dish Network is a much smaller player, but this is anti-competitive.

I know DirectTV is trying to corner the satellite market, and I hope prices don't increase as a result.
