UFC # 69 ( :D ) in Houston

I don't know if I'm crazy, stupid, or a combination but I'm going tonight.

We went to the 'Stros game last Wednesday and just joking about going.

In a drunken stooper, I declared the only way I go is if we have floor seats and "The Man" (aka "The Fish", "The Peanut", etc) pays for my ticket.

Just now, he called my bluff and said he was treating everyone. Go to Toyota Center's website and surprisingly (?), the event isn't sold out... Better yet, plenty of floor seats still availble.

So, what am I supposed to expect? I've only seen a handfull on TV and youtube... Lots of blood? Lots of violence? Lots of trash?

All I know is we are eating a steak dinner, getting beyond full, and going.

Pictures, assuming they let me bring my camera in, will be posted later tonight or after I shake off my inevitable hangover tomorrow morning.

Who knows, maybe I'll run into pandrews image

Look for me in Section C row 7 on the floor image

    yo,

i am renting it, so i hope to see you in the audience.

ufc has LONG exiled boxing into a world few americans truly even care about, other than how much more brain damage to holyfield have or is mike tyson in bfe, Ohio putting on another exhibition?

look to read your post-fight reports sir.

    ps: steak good

is homeboy wearing a golf glove?

ufc 69 was best ufc i've seen in a while btw. 155 lb ultimate fighters should be banned, way too much damage to brainium. still in shock that serra knocked out st pierres, unbelievable.

josh nobody should stop fighting professionally,

at least while he still has PART of his brain left.

he looks like he's been on meth since ultimate fighter season whatever he was on. add the damage cumo inflicted on his body, i think his cheek bone was broken early on in 1st round.

my favorite mma fight of all time was on earlier tonite: ernesto hoost v bob sapp (part deaux).

hoost is a legen, bob sapp is a big can.. b ut he knocked hoost around pretty good if i remember,

    was that k1 or pride?

josh haynes prolly is on something, he was likke 300_+lbs one time, dude lost almost half his body
but in all fairness that dude luke cummo is a badass striker, plus he has jedi powers and stuff and drinks his own pee so he was gonna win no matter what

hoost was winning this fight from get go, but he kept on pushing pace and sapp got very lucky, but sapp won in round 2 via referee stoppage.

    silent library w/ ernesto hoost

Witty commentary to follow after I get some greasy food in me... I did bet on the underdog for the main event.. 10-1 odds image

    fuqn nice seats you had!

good call going last nite also, that was best mma ppv ufc has had in a while. after the shamrock/ortiz dud, lots of people thought last night's fight card was very questionable for ppv, but the fighters ripped the roof off the mutha!

I feel terrible image Sorry for the scatter brained commentary but I'm still drunk..

The fight was entertaining and the fans were pretty cool. None of us really know the sport and fans around us were happy to teach us the basics.

There were some "tough guys" who were acting like big shots but you see that at every sporting event.

It was cool to be up close but the views were not all that great. If there's a take down, you have to watch the big screen. I'm sure hard-core fans would have appreciated it more but IMO, not worth the $450 image Save the cash, buy a $150 seat, and sit higher up to get a better view.

The next to the last fight was TERRIBLE. The boos were non-stop and I participated (which was pretty funny). They weren't even boxing, just dancing around the ring/octagon. Very weak. Having said that, the rest of the fights were fun and fast paced. I can't believe that I took the dog on the main event but glad I did image

The round girls were smoking hot, especially the blonde image

Overall, it was entertaining and I give it imageimage

BTW - If anyone heard "tickle him!" being shouted from the crowd, that was me image

    tickle him eh?

that's what was going on during that way over-hyped POS.

it's amazing how much the fighters from the show have improved, minus josh (poor guys prolly has dam-bramage from the beatings) he's taken lately. i wouldn't bet a $1 on serra, unbelievable.

ps: i dogged out ufc a while back, but since then they have really turned corners to pretty much eliminate american boxing and boxing around the world. thanks for nothing i guess?
