a question about a quarter

i have a question about a barber quarter i have in my possession. it is a 1899 barber. it is pretty worn down but you can still see what it is and what year. my question is i read that coins have mintmarkers, where on the coin would you find the mintmarker and what difference does where it was minted make in value?

    Hi Mandie,

Welcome to the CU Message Boards. The mintmark on Barber coins is just underneath the eagle's tail feathers on the back of the coin. Each mint produces different amounts of coins each year. The general rule is that the lower the mintage, the higher the value.
