Maybe so... but what are the chances of the Wings moving past the Flames? How many years do the Wings get knocked out by Alberta teams???

But.. i am not all that excited for the Preds... playing the Sharks. Just like last year, i do not like the match up. Would have much rather seen the Stars make it into 5th. Oh well.. Preds will make a run this year!!!

I'm actually a little more expectant of Detroit to do good things this year simply because they're a tougher team. They have actually found out what it is to play defense, so that should do well for them this year. Zetty may not play at all and that does suck, but Datsyuk has heated up and hopefully doesn't disappear yet again in the playoffs. Should be fun.

Congrats to the Islanders! Gutsy win and comeback after that late goal by New Jersey!

    That said, Let's Go RANGERS!!

Does anybody watch hockey? Does it have a TV contract?

In NY, we get all Rangers and Islanders games on TV. I'll tell you what, playoff hockey is very exciting to watch, if you get into it.

The TV contract is kind of a patchwork. Versus is the anchor network, but games are also broadcast on HDNet and on NBC. Many cable companies offer the Center Ice package which picks up local broadcasts of every game all season long for about $120 a season - the greatest bargain for a hockey fan.

And amen, grote; nothing in sports is as good as playoff hockey! GO STARS!
This is for you @thisistheshow - Jim Rice was actually a pretty good player.

  • And I second that t, no other playoffs in sports is as exciting. But I find most people who don't watch it are just too dumb to get it, sorry to offend anyone.

I agree with dirtmonkey-- this Wings team is different. They are tougher, and more committed defensively. It's obviously not out of the realm of possibility that they'll get bounced by the Flames in the first round, but I feel quite a bit better about this squad than I have the previous two teams (although I still think Datsyuk is stealing money, and I cannot believe he just got that huge deal).

I like Nashville against San Jose, too. And I also like Atlanta to make it to the conference finals.

Stealing is a bit harsh. He did lead his team in points. He's in the top 20 in scoring. He's one of the better defensive centers, an excellent face-off guy and he almost never takes a bad penalty (20 PIM's). Pavel has all of the skills to be something amazing, but he has a tendency to often float in games (like Fedorov used to) and he's too eager to pass the puck instead of shooting. Hopefully this recent goal surge he has experienced with Zetterberg out will make him understand that he can be a legitimate force in the league. He can do some amazing things... things I have rarely seen many (if any) players do. BUT if he again fails to show up at all in the playoffs (and Detroit doesn't win the Cup), there's going to be a lot of grumbling in Detroit when he hits the ice next year.

  • Guys,

Any of you want to hop in my playoff pool .... we've got about 7 entries in right now ... I'd like to get it 10 or so.

Gonna be lots of fun! $10 --- winner take all.

  • i watch the pens all the time. the problem with tv is that the puck moves too fast for the camera. it's a great game. i'm really getting hooked on this game. and i used to think it was only for canucks.

    GOOD LUCK PENS

Heck, Rangers vs. Islander is more hotly contested (between teams and among the fans) than Yankees vs. Mets!
