Good Friday. The "Redundant" Holiday. I have to be at work, sadly, but the associate I work with are out in the UK and they have the day off. Therefore, I'm at work but not really "at work".
I collect the elements on the periodic table, and some coins. I have a complete Roosevelt set, and am putting together a set of coins from 1880.
So basically my kid won't be able to go to college, but at least I'll have a set where the three most expensive cards are of a player I despise ~ CDsNuts
Easter is my favorite holiday. It celebrates the day Noah finished the Arc, Jesus and all the animals walked single file onto the arc before the big flood. After the 40 years in the rain above a desert, the water subsided and the arc landed in jeruselum
As a symbol or rebirth, Jesus gave Noah a little bunny rabbit, which is why rabbits are the mascot of Easter.
That story brings a tear to my eye everytime. And my mom said Sunday Skool wasnt worth going to.
Originally, I was going to ignore all this, but it would go against everything I believe in and live for to do so.
Guys, for those of us who believe, Good Friday is the rememberance of the most important day in the history of our world. Whether you believe that Jesus was the son of God (which I do) or not, the facts are that he was brutally crucified on Good Friday.
For me anyway, it's a bit hard to be laughing about peeps and bunnies and days off work given that.
Not expecting you to agree, am asking you to understand how it makes me and other believers feel.
I'd respect the holiday a lot more if adults didn't coat the holiday with bunny rabbits and colored eggs just to hoax children into believing in Jesus. Sorry for the disrespect, I'll leave my further comments about this off the forum.
I've always celebrated Easter and Christmas but never once for the religious aspects of it. Sure I know what is being celebrated in terms of the religious portions (I'm not ignorant) but since I don't follow/believe in religion I have always enjoyed the Easter Bunny and Santa Claus types of things.

Thanks Jeff. Sorry that your experience with Easter involves attempts to be tricked into believing with rabbits and eggs. I'm guessing that those who did so had good intentions but a very poor strategy.
Have a Peep and relax Tom. The true "facts" are that Easter started as a Judeo-Christian (which has little to do with present day Christianity) and a Pagan holiday, to celebrate the Spring Equinox. And regardless of it's origin, it is nothing but a commercialized holiday now. "Not that there is anything wrong with that."

I went to service tonight, arrived in light and left in darkness. This is the day we remember pain and suffering. There is plenty of that everywhere. Im sure some of us are in pain. Id like to think that this board may bring a little bit of ease to those people. We need to always remember,
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life

Happy Passover to those that celebrated that earlier this week as well!
Happy whatever to whoever else has a big holiday this week!

"I am the way". That's all we need to know.
Celebrate Easter because it's truly a time for joy. But never confuse an Easter bunny with what it really means.
Be childlike, not childish.
