decent grades for your first time. several of us have had that same experience. the 89 score are tough with the colored borders. nice job on the collinsworth rookie as well....and great turnaround time.

    Thanks,

Not bad. It will take several submissions before you get a sense of PSA grading scale and
what they look for. This board has been a big help for me.

    Good luck.

You cannot see a spec of white on any of the 89 score cards. No extra pieces of paper on any corners either. Most of the 8's I've gotten have come from sets with a few 9's that managed to find their way in there. In many cases, the 8's can be 9's on any other given day as long as there is no obvious white corners. The 9's are 10's on most days too. I've never gotten good at spotting the difference. I have all 3 grades in my sets and I can tell you that half my 10's, if cracked would come back 9's and if I wanted to play the game, I would crack my 8's and 9's and see what kind of results I could get. I would be the grades would change on 50% of them.

Problem is, an 8 isn't worth the grading fees unless it's Barry and a 9 doesn't do much better. So for the extra $5 to get an 8 into a 9 holder...pretty nominal benefit there. Some 10's aren't even worth much more than $20.

You didn't do too bad for your first submission though.

Dayne - I got the exact same grades for my free CC sub, five 8's and one 9 - and I thought all were 9s. Once I bought a 10x loupe it became obvious why I got the grades I did....you might want to invest the $10 to get one.
