If you're talking about Topps baseball, it's 1991. OPC kept wax in 1992.

  • Thanks. I was just curious. When I was a kid, they were wax of course. I wondered what year the switch to foil took place.

Actually, 1993 was the last year that Topps put out "wax" packs. Yes the paper wasn't really wax and was more of a plastic-like sheet, but they didn't go to the modern foil design until 1994.
I collect the elements on the periodic table, and some coins. I have a complete Roosevelt set, and am putting together a set of coins from 1880.

The last yr of wax was 91 for Topps. 92 and 93 were a type of cellophane if I remm correctly.

Not sure about OPC but I'd take Lee's word for it.
