Glavine pitched a hell of a game yesterday. You have to love the guys who make it this far with underwhelming "stuff". A true pitcher Tom is in every sense. A craftsman image

how many of us expected to see multiple 300 game winners emerge as the game has changed. I think what he has done is awesome.

    WAR Glavine. Get 9 more.

  • People always say Glavine, or MOSTLY Maddux have done so well with underwhelming stuff. News flash, they don't have underwhelming stuff. The ability to spot and make the ball move has more importance than topping the radar gun...as long as you are not throwing 71 MPH.

People will say that Nolan Ryan has infinitely more stuff than Greg Maddux. What they should be saying is that he simply threw harder. His stuff(right stuff at least) was not as good as Maddux's.

Maddux's stuff....his pinpoint 89 MPH tailing fastball, offset with a tremendous change of pace, are better than Ryan's stuff of a 99 MPH and hard breaking curve (neither of which had much direction).

It isn't guile, it isn't moxy, it is Maddux's control, movement, and changing of pace that made him that good. If you take away just one of those three elements and multiplied his moxy by one million, Maddux is not the same pitcher.

Uhhhhhh .... no $hit skin. That is why I called him a CRAFTSMAN. Was that point lost on you?

  • No, that point wasn't lost. Was mine lost on you?

  • Yeah, Glavine is merely good, and owes it all to his moxy. Mystery solved.

Skinpinch, are you even reading the posts or just responding on gut reaction?

Skin has issues tolerating any opinion but his own, obviously...

uhhhhhhh ....... what? Dude, are you freaking binging tonight ???

Do people have to word things in the EXACT way that you would word things for you to understand? I called Tom Glavine a CRAFTSMAN because of every reason you just barfed out and MORE. My comment about Tom Glavine's STUFF was to highlite how important it is to know the art of pitching as opposed to being a THROWER.

  • Baeball, you can define it any way you wish, and apply any standard you wish. It is more complicated than what I wrote, or what you wrote. He does have moxy, just like any successful MLB pitcher. You gotta have balls to get by in that competition. Nobody got what I was writing about the stuff. Thats fine. It was probably poorly written then.

Grote, I'll take your opinion on which movie you like.
