2006 Alex Gordon card printed now?

Just a thought, but why couldn't Topps go ahead and print an Alex Gordon card in last year's set format this year? Same card design and card number, just insert it into 2007 Topps product. Kind of like the 1933 Lajoie?

That would fill the hole in last year's set, create demand for this year's product. Are there any restrictions in the licensing agreement that prevent this?

I think they could do that as long as the copyright on the back of the card said "2007 Topps". Kind of like the Mickey Mantle cards of last year which used the prior years' Topps design. That would actually be pretty cool if they made that a somewhat easy to find insert in Series 2 or in the Traded packs this year. Something like one per box would be neat.
I collect the elements on the periodic table, and some coins. I have a complete Roosevelt set, and am putting together a set of coins from 1880.
