SCAN YOUR FAVORITE MANTLE EVEN IF YOU DON'T OWN IT OR YOU DO

Also, you don't have to be a Yankees fan to list your fav Mick!! Mick transends likes and dislikes! I am not a Yankees fan for one, but a huge Mick fan! Go Tigers!! And it doesn't matter if it is a $50,000 1952 PSA 8 or if it is a modern $5 common, list it! It's not just about market value! If it's yours and you like it, that's what counts! I'll start. I own a 1962 Topps Mickey Mantle #471 PSA 9 1/7 none higher. The "wood" borders are super tough, and one of the best sets in the hobby post 1950's.

<< <i>Gotsparks...that is a neat card, but I have always thought it actually depicts a swinging strike rather than the home run he hit >>
Not to mention game 3 was at Yankee stadium yet they have the Card pitcher ( Gibson ?) in a home uniform and Mantle in a road uniform.

Yep -
A crappy effort by Topps on that one. That's what makes it interesting.
Look at this 12 year run:
We kept um out twice at least...
We do have these great moments as well:
8/31/04 ~ 22-0!!!
7/4/06 ~ 19-1!!! Happy Birthday America, we will provide the fireworks! Oh and Happy Birthday George as well, like your present?
7/29/28 ~ 24-6!!! Nice, wish I could have been around for that one too!
Anyway, its a Mantle thread though and I guess I'll get back to the point...
Favorite Mantle? I love last years Topps card, and really the OD version because of the blue foil instead of the silver which I think compliments the uniform. Not an expensive card, just a pleasing one to me:
As far as "best" Mantle, its got to be my '61. It holds a place in my heart as its one of the first high dollar cards I ever put into my collection and by far the best condition high dollar card I got my hands on until more recent times. I got it back about 94 or so and it has had a wonderful home since... I really should get it graded one of these days.
BTW, great thread ~ nice seeing all those wonderful old cards.

Please stop showing this piece...I always have a hard time cleaning up all the drool...God I love that PS
My favorite items tend to be away from what was my main focus 20 yrs. ago - so I like this PM10 stadium pin of Mantle and this card that's an insert from the 50s Mickey Mantle Game.
