I've just about had it.....

with all of the greed in Major League Baseball, they can keep it. If Comcast does not ink this deal today, It will be 7 years before they will get another chance to bid. I'll be damned if i am going to watch a baseball game on a computer!! And i'm sure as hell not switching from Comcast to Direct TV. This whole thing is all about money, greed and power. If MLB refuses to work with Comcast and act this way, i am not spending dime one on this game again. BTW,anyone take a family of 4 to a ballgame lately? Thanks alot MLB!! Thanks for nothing.
Signed,
One pissed off fan

Well halosfan, your comment is screwing 60,000,000 other viewers . Oh, but that's right, you didn't bother to read what Congress had to say about this on Wednesday did you? though i personally can't stand Sen. Kerry, my hat is off to him on this subject. He got it right. Comcast offered exactly and even went over on their offer (which MLB said they would accept) only to slap it down. I hope i heard right today that Comcast would file an injunction to block this Monopoly. I would expect COMCAST BLOWS from a 13 year old. Try spouting something intelligent next time.
Out!!
I don't understand why NFL ticket, MLB ticket, NBA season pass, et.al. are not made available to all service providers. I can only assume that MLB came to the conclusion that Comcast was being unreasonable. Maybe your angst should be directed towards them.
I did mention that I agree MLB is very greedy and DirecTV is the best service out there for sports fans.
Try to keep personal insults out of this. I've done nothing to you.
Have a good one,
Matthew
FWIW I don't hold this against MLB. If it makes them more money then God bless 'em. But I think one of the long term effects of these arrangements may be the futher alienation of the casual fan. I'm actually kind of expecting Arena Football to become the 'next big thing' in North American sports, since the league appears to be run by smart people and their games are accessible. We'll see how it shakes out.
Maybe Carew29 was just saying a friendly April Fool's joke!?
Yep, $800.00....and no Remdog! Never again!

By all accounts, Directv needed to make this deal, in order to remain competitive in the marketplace. Cable, and soon phone companies, offer complete solutions (TV, Internet, phone, OnDemand) while satellite companies can offer TV only - and thus it is a dying industry. I used to have Directv for years, but switched back to cable a few years ago - and I get much more service (and better) for less money. Most baseball fans will not switch to Directv over this, and the game of baseball will become a lot less important to a lot of people. Bad move, MLB.
And, thanks Charter for offering me MLB.TV for free this year, but its just not the same. Who wants to watch baseball on their computer? I want to watch it in the living room on my HD plasma, while relaxing in my easy chair. These guys just don't get it.

<< <i>This whole deal stinks - and MLB is shafting over 200,000 of its most loyal customers (the people, like myself, who have cable and paid over $150 last year to order MLB Extra Innings) by making this deal with Directv.

Having said that, doesn't the NFL have the same exclusivity arrangement with the DirecTV? And isn't that the reason that some cable companies refuse to carry The NFL Network? While Bud can usually be counted on to be shortsighted and foolish, the NFL usually isn't, so that makes me wonder if this might not actually pay off for them in the long run.
I know people are getting jobbed in the meantime (if I hadn't had a particular copse of trees in the way, I would have Dish service now, and be every bit as angry myself), but that's modern America for you.
Received this wonderful news today.
Due to a decision by Major League Baseball, Comcast, as well as many other cable operators will not be able to distribute the 2007 MLB Extra Innings out-of-market package.
If you are a current Comcast customer and subscribed to Comcast 2006 MLB Extra Innings, you should receive correspondence from Comcast no later than April 11, 2007 with an offer to help make up for the loss of MLB Extra Innings, with an opportunity to subscribe to MLB.TV. With MLB.TV you can use your computer to view all the same games you would see on TV with MLB Extra Innings.
If you do not receive notification by April 11, 2007, please call: 1-800-631-0258, and have your Comcast account number available for 2006 MLB Extra Innings subscription verification.
If you are a current Comcast customer and have subscribed to the 2007 MLB Extra Innings package, we will refund your payment in the form of a credit to your monthly bill.
In 2007, Comcast will be providing a great selection of up to 400 national, regional and local live televised baseball games, many in high-definition. We hope the combination of the MLB.TV offer and the large live televised schedule make up for the loss of MLB Extra Innings.
Again, should you need any assistance in signing up for MLB.TV after receiving your special offer in the mail, please contact: 1-800-631-0258.

My reply is MLB BLOWS!!
CTsoxfan,
Perhaps you are having a bad day when wrote that. Satellite a dying industry? That is ridiculous. Cable had to get into other venues because DirecTV and even Dish Network thumping them. Customer Service is so much better, more HI Def possibilities, endless more channels and it is cheaper. The super Bowl was not even in High def on the cable system in my city! When it comes to broadcasting TV shows cable is the dinosaur.
Don't believe that satellite is on the rise? Click here: 16 million Directv customers and growing
DirectTV paid the fees to get this exclusive deal done. Sorry if you don't like it but blame your cable company.
I have no relative that works for the satellite companies. These are just the facts.

Do not forget that cable offered to match the Direct TV offer, and MLB blew them off. It is obvious that the window given to cable was total BS. I love baseball, but I will not switch to Direct TV, and will not spend one nickel on MLB this year. I used to go to a lot of games with a friend; after 94 he quit going and has not been to one since. I may join him on the sidelines.
A few years later, MLB took over ALL broadcasts and started charging you if you wanted to listen to FREE radio. I said "F*&% You!" in a nasty e-mail to MLB and have never bought any of those broadcast packages. It's disgusting that I can't just have the game playing on my computer in my office at work while getting work done unless I use a CPU Hogging piece of software and pay MLB an ungodly sum of money to listen to the game.
Then, ESPN decided that if you want to use anything on their site you have to be an "insider". So no more live game broadcasts, no more meaningful articles, no more ANYTHING unless you cough up twenty bucks a month or so. Again, things that rightfully should be "free" are no longer.
This is just the pattern we are falling in. Soon, there will be exclusive deals that prevent you from watching ANY baseball game unless you pay MLB money. It's disgusting and sad, but the way we are moving today.
Just wait until 2009 and you won't be able to watch TV unless it's a HD TV. Well since i won't be coughing up money to MLB anytime soon, i guess i can go back to the gym and re-join my softball leagues. This is really the last straw for me. You have to take a stand at some point in what you believe in.
basic cable prices have doubled in the past 6-7 years; do i have more content? yeah, 4 spanish channels, 3 portugese channels, several shopping channels.... all garbage. Really should be able to pick and choose what you want for a nominal fee. Down the road I can definitely see me dumping this rip off artists.
I love DirecTV, infinitely better customer service than cable, better pricing, far fewer and less pricing increases, and I've never had an outage in 5 years of service.
And why should any content be provided for free? It costs money to deliver that content over the internet...why should you get it for no charge? Just because you did in the past? If you don't want it, and don't want to pay for it, go back to the 'good ole days' and listen to it on a transistor radio.

LOL, How many times will this clown keep coming back only to get banned again? It's beyond pathetic at this point.

At this point I place the blame directly on PSA, not Axtell.
They apparently had sufficient reason to boot him the first time...and the second time...and the third time. Among those reasons were more than likely violating PSA's policies in regards to profanity, harrassing other members, etc.
If there was enough of a reason to remove him to begin with than it should be their obligation to enforce the ban more carefully and diligently for the good of the community.
Their failure to uphold and enforce their rules and banishment of Ax is a let down and failure to look out for the best interest of the community members who abide by the rules and policies. By now they are just showing a total disregard for handling things properly.

I could care less if Baseball went away for good. I only like the history of the game now. I've attended a few games over the past few years but they were all on free tickets. Baseball will never get another dime out of me.
I'm Football only now and couldn't be happier.

That will never happen because the way half of the garbage cable channels exist is because they are only available in packages with premium channels that everyone wants. For example, in order for a cable service to get something like an ESPN or Comedy Central, the cable provider would have to also get those 3 Portugese channels, 2 Spanish channels, and some other stuff no one would be interested in otherwise. (Yes, I know ESPN's situation is different, but use it as an example)
