Just to illustrate how convincing a photo doctoring job can be, check the dates on the front. I'm sure there is plenty of this happening to improve coins in different ways on ebay. No, I would never doctor an auction on ebay. I just wanted to show an example of what can be done with editing software. This was a 2 minute job so it's not perfect.
