Has anyone seen a 1951 S nickel with a die crack from top to bottom on the reverse? -Picture added

Has anyone seen a 1951 S nickel with a die crack from top to bottom on the reverse?

I am trying to see if these are common

    I've never seen one.

But of course, I only have one 51-S. IF you look through the survivors of the other 7.8 million you may see more.
Some call it an accumulation not a collection

I have a '44-S with a nice reverse crack (photo below), but my '51-S looks normal.

    When in doubt, don't.

I have a 44-S with a crack through the "S" (which makes it look like a dollar sign) and it goes all the way through Monticello and to the bottom of the coin

I have a couple GEM Nickels that have die cracks on the REV (about 1/4+ though the coin)... do these have any premium at all? they look cool at least

Dennis that almost looks like a lamination ... is the metal raised with a ridge of flowing metal down both edges of the crack or is it smooth on one side with a ridge or ledge on the other ?

I got to thinking the same thing when I was cropping and reducing image size in Photoshop. To tell the truth, I'd never noticed it before because my strongest loupe is only 10X. It does look like a little lamination. I'll have to go back to the original monster photo (300 dpi 10.2mb) and see how it looks at maximum size. (The portion shown here is only 33% of actual image file enlargement).

OK, it looks like there's actually a couple of laminations going on -- one is the big vertical thing I thought was a crack, then there's also another that runs parallel to the top of the steps and turns upward over by the right pillar. It's faint but can you see it?

I think it's pretty funny to have a lamination or two on a coin graded MS67 by PCGS.

My 1940-S has a very similar reverse die crack (the topic of a thread a while back).
