Washington Dollars rotating?

notwilightnotwilight Posts: 12,864 ✭✭✭
Anybody had problems with GW dollars rotating in the PCGS holders during shipping? I've shipped hundreds and haven't heard anything back (except positive feedback) until yesterday. One buyer called me and said 6 of 6 rotated in transit. Previously he had purchased 12 and none of them rotated. Both were shipping the same way in the same re-used mint box.

Anybody had luck with the tapping to rerotate and straighten method?

Thanks,

  • I too noticed that the new gaskets tend to rotate and can cover the date of the coin. All you have to do is tap the holder on its corner, just like an old rattler, and the gasket can be moved to the correct orientation. Best of Luck!

I am sure they will rotate in the holder, what I am looking for is a rotated die, but so far no luck.image

Yes, I had six PCGS coins and one was rotated in the holder about ten degrees. I used the tap-tap-tap method to straighten it. I ended up going the long way round because I couldn't find the right spot to get it turn the way I needed it to go.

Perhaps that shipment with six rotated coins got on a truck with a lot of vibration or something. Hard to figure. The coins will rotate, probably a bit more than other coins because of the see-through edge holder.
