state quarter boards and toning

how many are doing the state quarter boards and if so, have you looked at them lately?
while moving some stuff i found some boards i had started when the program was fairly new
and almost all had that orange yellow toning to them.
one in particular had some nice rainbow toning going on and i almost immediate knew why.
when i put these boards away, i put them in a book of the same size as the boards and along
with the boards i had placed some bank notes in with them. well the one rainbow quarter turned that way
apparently because of a note that laid over the coin. the note was an old silver certificate and wasnt exactly
crisp. anyway, i thought this was pretty cool and may try to get a pic or two of the quarters when i get all moved.

I have mine in a Dansco and they are all toning a nice golden hue color. They really look nice.

Yes, I've noticed that as well. We have ours in those large multi-colored maps that were sold on TV. Real nice golden hues on many of the coins. I've noticed our "P" set has done so more uniformily on all the coins while the "D" set some have remained blast white. Interesting contrast and reaction for what I thought were the "same" coins in the "same environment. It's been cool to watch. image

  • We gave our three grandsons a book a piece from the mint when they first started the collection. Some have turned a little but not any colors really just kind of gold like they have been in circulatione but they haven't. The ones that have turned are the ones that came out first so maybe the time is the reason. I am keeping these for them for a while since they are moving and putting a lot of stuff in storage so I will watch them for a while.

I also have mine in a Dansco, the business strikes and both the clad and silver proofs, and they're not toning at all.
