Here's a new one for you Heritage guys... or is it?

So I thought I'd stop by Target on my lunch break and pick up a couple of blasters of 07 Heritage. I go to start busting, and the first pack I open, is this nice, bright, shiny...

Nick Van Exel Ultra card

WTF!? So I open a couple more and they too are filled with a bunch of random B-Ball crap. We're talking, Upper Deck, Pro Set, Fleer, Ultra, everything. The second box is the exact same way. At first I thought it might be some f-up by Topps, but I start to inspect some of the unopened ones and notice that almost all of them are very loose at one end and would pop right open, like someone had re-glued. They even left the gum in. The shrink wrap was perfect too.

I have some that I haven't even touched, and most that I opened I only pulled the tab back far enough to verify that it wasn't Heritage. So what do you think, does Target take them back? Topps? What should I do?

This has turned into quite the day. First the cat craps on my undies, and now this. I hate Thursday's.

i dunno.. ive heard about scumbags doing this before..

you gotta make sure the shrinkwrap has topps logo on it because people buy a box, take it home and open it, replace the cards with junk, re-shrinkwrap it, and return it for a refund..

they need to be lined up and shot..

Now that I look at it it is just plain shrinkwrap. No logo.

Sorry to hear about that. I will always check my shrink wrap for the logo from now on.

P.S. Are you sure it was the cat that crapped on your undies?

Yeah it was the cat. Check page 2 of the "something stinks" thread.

I have had that happen before, alhtough not from a sealed box. It was 2004 Bowman heritage I bought about 4 cases worth of loose packs and I had about 4 to 5 packs with weird stuff in it (upper deck, etc....). There were also a few packs that had the cards bent right through the middle. I would keep the packs and reciepts and send it in for exchange. The time period of exchange had passed on the packs that I bought and it was a great rip so I figured that it happens from time to time and was unable to return. Not sure why that would happen though....especially when it is from another company......

Sorry to hear but Topps is usually really good if you save the box UPC, reciept of purchases, etc...

If you had only been there earlier in the day, you could have seen him feeling up the packs too. Some people have no conscience and are just degenerate human beings.

This happened quite a bit back in 2001. Best advise is to look for the topps logo on the shrinkwrap.

So do you guys think Target will take them back? I would prefer that to trying my luck and waiting for Topps. I guess I'll find out on my way home.

Did you open ALL of the packs? I hope not. If Target does not refund make a scene. More then likely they will appease you .....

As far as dealing with Target, You might try walking into the store and seeing if the shelf has more blasters that have been tampered with. Target might think you are doing them a favor if you help get the bad product off their floor.

This way you take the high road and they might be more willing to work with you.

I bet they have the returns on tape as they record the return area at my target.

  • Almost bought a 06 BDP blaster until I noticed the top was glued shut. And the fact the box weighted half what it should.

Bought quite a few packs once. Got to the car and noticed the tops on all of them were open. Not fully, but enough to get a good view to look for ref etc. Target refunded me but kinda looked at me like I was lying. I then went to the display and grabbed all the other 20+ packs that were opened and gave them to the service counter. There wasnt any more of that product on the shelf. Next day I look and *pow* they're all back for sale. sad.

Returned without question. Went down the road to another Target on the way home and picked up two legit boxes, and even saved 82 cents in sales tax. Cha-ching!
