What a PAIN IN THE ASS to deal with. Unopened stuff unless it comes from Steve at BBCE or Mark Murphy just isn't worth the agg. I only buy from them. chaz

Lee, actually Im quite surpised you would go back to unopened material after the Gary Fiasco.....didnt you learn your lesson?

fool me once shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me.....

Not until people stop buying packs sight unseen, will these crooks stop....

your actually contributing to the problem by financing them......

ya how so? even a little kid learns that once they are burned by fire, they shouldnt touch it....

Remember, the more unopened packs bought from unreputable sources, the more fuel they get to rob more people...

so , actually Lee is part of the problem.....

90% of packs are resealed on ebay...

    stick with bbcx, steve's ok.......................

Calling the seller in this situation a crook is uncalled for.

    Steve
    Good for you.

ps...most gamblers and poker players are degenerates...

    and pete rose fans....

I am a degenerate, but not a Pete Rose fan. Not a Rose hater either. More of a Rose-indifferent kind of guy. Kind of how I feel about Pujols. He's there and he's good, but doesn't do much for me.

Well, then just let me say that I am certainly a thriving degenerate and a prosperous gambler.

BUT, I would not buy raw "unopened packs" from any EBAY seller; other than BBCE.

<< <i>I'm sure you know Lee, but I have sold and bought lots of unopened wax too. All I'm asking is a chance to buy and sell on this board, my Ebay feedback is good and I guarantee everything I sell. Just like I did with Lee. >>

Mphiking - I'm not fully sure at this point.

Can I talk with kphilqueen now?

It's always good to get the "other" side of the story.

Ok, 3 sides to every story then.

    Steve
    Good for you.
  • You guys crack me up ....

Lee buys packs off of ebay so that he can make money. He knows the market very well, figures his cost, the risk factor, and probable flip value and proceeds accordingly.

if you know what you are doing and take the time, you can make money in the card business, and by buying vintage wax on ebay.

All of you throwing out the "you should never buy wax on ebay" are sort of nieve, in my opinion. It's really all about knowing the market, the risk, and profitability ... before proceeding.

Obviously, if you're only motive is as a collector, buying soley from BBCE or becoming a resident expert on vintage wax before delving into the ebay underworld is advised.

    my 2cents.

Oh ... I got burned by Dagget in "Junkies-gate" last year or whenever it was. I don't mess with wax much anymore, personally.

I prefer to spend massive premiums on plastic slabs. Obviously I'm not any smarter than anyone else image

Hate to bust you on this ..... then why make the comment about someone being naive if they only buy from BBCE or other reputable sellers? chaz

Buy from wherever you want .... just don't preach to others about what they should do. People are coming into this thread and making declarative statements about "buy only..." and "do only ..." etc etc...

Not a big deal ... I'll keep my comments to myself from now on. Just laughing b/c it's not like Lee doesn't know what he's dealing with in the ebay underworld ... it's merely by choice that he delves into it b/c that's where the profit is.

The roller seal is a very telling indicator of a resealed pack, as Lee pointed out. The corner folds are another one, in addition to the gum size, positioning of the cards, uniform wear, gloss, etc.

Regarding intact gum, though, I do know that there are vintage collectors who will pay a premium for a pack with a piece of intact gum, just as collectors will pay a premium for a cello or rack with a well centered top card, even though the centering of the top card often has very little, if anything, to do with the centering of the cards behind it.

Collecting 1970s Topps baseball wax, rack and cello packs, as well as PCGS graded Half Cents, Large Cents, Two Cent pieces and Three Cent Silver pieces.

Hmm, Sounds like the last horse I bet on. The jockey was whipping the horse down the stretch. The horse turned to the jockey and said, "What are you whipping me for? There's no one behind us!' image

LOL, Thanks for the laugh , that is so funny .
I can't even count how many times I had thought the same thing .

I like to play the Horses at the Meadowlands a lot , I still can't figure why when my horse is leading by 3 lengths why the driver keeps pulling up on the horse as if he knows I bet on him . . .

" GUY YER GONNA PULL THAT BIT RIGHT THROUGH THE HORSES JAW !

One time I was so far ahead and this driver did that and the damn horse all but skidded to a dead stop , I wanted to jump over the gate and beat the hell out of the guy , I had the trifecta and the pick 6 with that horse , it was going to be a huge night !

No really if I would have had a gun I woulda shot him , my friends and my wife were like , dude it's just a friggin race , I was like just a race !! I was lookin at over 20 K !
Just a race my friggin A$$hole!

    Ahhhh the memories ! image
