Will acid rain tone your old cleaned silver coins?

.
Perhaps this a question best answered by TomB or some other chemist but until then.
Acid rain contains some form of sulfur.
Quote: "Scientists discovered, and have confirmed, that sulfur dioxide (SO2) and nitrogen oxides (NOx) are the primary causes of acid rain. In the US, About 2/3 of all SO2 and 1/4 of all NOx comes from electric power generation that relies on burning fossil fuels like coal."
Given the above it would seem collectors living near coal burning generators, that are holding old cleaned bright silver coins, could just leave their coins outside for a year or so. Turn them over every once and a while and bring them in during the wet season.
Does anyone do this or think it will work?
