Blank Planchet $1 George Washington for Sale

After getting a heap load of the so-called "upside down writing" dollar coins I came across a Blank $1 coin. The only way I knew it was a George Washington is that it came in $25.00 roll of $1 straight from the bank which also had 13 "upside down' coins. It has no writing on the rim, nothing of the front or the back of the coin, it came straight from the bank and put into a hard plastic coin holder. There is sat since the endof Feb-beginning of March, until now when I have decided to sell it!
I'm an aussie living in the USA, my daughter wants to come over to visit with me, she is 16 & I haven't seen her since she was 3 years old, so my ambition is to sell this coin for as much money as I can so I can pay for her airfare.... isn't that a sweet sob story! But it is very true. My daughter, Tabatha, had been living with my Mother since she was 3, now my poor Mother is getting older, too old she says to be running after a teenager. Taby wants to have a white Christmas so my aim is to try to save & raise the money to bring her over here.

So anyways, here is the link for this coin on eBay $1 George Washington Blank Planchet for sale on eBay

There is under 2 days left on my auction... go on have pity on me & my sob story and bid on my coins PLEASE.

How would the buyer know if it is a sacagwea planchet if it does not have the letered edge? You're gonna see a lot of this going on. This may very well be from a GW roll but if a grading company cannot determine whether it is or not, it is worth about $1.50

    it is worth about $1.50

    Maybe $100.00.

so you can sell them to fools as GW planchets for $500 or more?
  • Thanks for your input, it did come from a GW roll and I still have the other coins that were in the roll, I intended on putting in 2 of those coins to the winner.

I'm sure it did come from a GW roll but my point is that if it cannot be authenticated (and maybe it can), how can it be worth more than a blank sac palnchet 10 years from now when you go to sell it?

THE PROPER THING TO DO IS TO HAVE IT AUTHENTICATED BY ONE OF THE TOP PROFESSIONAL GRADERS FIRST, THEN SELL IT. THIS IS THE SECOND KNOWN TO EXIST SO FAR!

Datentype, Sac planchets are worth far more than $1.50. Like LALASD4 hinted at, they are worth about $100 each.

  • Datentype I know what you are getting at, infact someone had emailed me saying they were going for $10,000 at PCGS, which is why this morning I took it to a Coin Collectors store & had it checked out. Obviously not graded, but the guy there told me that it was a real $1.00 George Washington Blank Planchet, I showed him the roll it came out of as well as the other coins from the roll. But he did say he didn't think it would be worth anything like $10,000 and to sell it while people were buying it! So that is what I am doing. I'm not a professional coin collector, I do like to collect coins that come out like the quarters and now the presidential dollars, it took me a lot of buying rolls of $25.00 to get this one... errr so I have like $70.00 in $1.00 coins with the supposed "Upside down writing on the rim' hahahahahaha

Unless there is a way to verify from the planchet itself that it was meant to be a GW dollar, it will not hold more value than a Sac blank planchet. Granted, someone may jump on the GW error bandwagon and pay more, but in my opinion that's a good way to lose money.
