odd flying eagle cent?

This is the one I posted a few days ago. Just got it last night. It has some damage and corrosion but it looks kind of odd throughout. I was looking at it through a loupe and I noticed what looked to be a 7 above the date in the field. Am I just crazy or is there something going on?

If you look at your pic, that is a dig starting just above the date towards the eagle and pushing the metal to form the "7" that you are seeing.

awe come on- can't you say it's some rare variety and I am going to be in all the newspapers for this discovery. This coin has so much going on damage wise it's hard to look at- now I am starting to see othe numbers and letters............

If you want to find new varieties, look in the high mintage, common date coins.

Not really looking for varities Ray- I get a headache looking through loupes.

just so there is no confusion- this is the area I think looks like an extra 7.

There seems to be all kinds of stuff that resembles letters or numbers. I guess I am going to get my loupe out and study this thing some more- here comes the headache....

That's what I noticed too I didn't even see the seven below the eagle...maybe with that 57 it should be called the heinz variety.
