Is Wax Removal Necessary?

Greetings,
Lookin' for Experience in PSA 10 Possiblities of the Fleer 1988-89 Stickers. I have a Gem Mint set, only there is wax on the back of the cards from when they were packaged! Does PSA Graders Care if the Wax is there or not? Do I need to remove the Wax or Not? If so, Do you know the best method to remove the Wax? If Not, Does PSA just look at the wax as part of the card cause it's directly from Fleer!?
Let me know what you all think...Experience in this area will be much helpful...but your thoughts about how PSA might handle them under these conditions could be very valuable indeed!
SMR has the Jordan at $10,000.00, & the last one on ebay sold for $3,100.ish... So you can see why the concern of the wax!

yes, PSA will care, you'll get an ST qualifier. I just recently removed wax from a bunch of 86 fleer sticker backs with a pair of nylons. Stick your finger in and rub, make sure you rotate the nylons. Assuming the backs are similar to the 86 fleer sticker, this should work. I was skeptical at first, but now you can't tell that the wax was even there.

    Yeah, what he said.

They will care, the nylons do take it off and it is not noticeable if you do it carefully. It is definitely worth the effort.

No offense meant, but I find it hard to believe you have a gem mint set of 88-89 stickers. Between crooked centering, touched corners, and flaking on the back border all the way around, these cards are nearly impossible to find gem mint. Could you scan a few front and back and prove me wrong?

I have a Gem Mint set

It would seem it is not "gem mint" if they have wax stains!? Also, as Lee said very hard to get 10s on these stickers. For fun, you might start a little pool for us all to guess how many 10's you get. I predict less than 10%. Good luck.
  • Dryer sheets work good too. Just removed alot off wax stains from some 1972-73 Basketball cards I'm selling.
