Have you ever sold a coin to DLRC???(David Lawrence)

I recently sold a handful of "collector" grade coins to them (AU58-MS64) nothing extremely "rare", but nice quality, and got a pretty good price for the small group...it seems easier to send them the coins and then haggle( if needed) for a fair price by phone or email, as opposed to selling to dealers with tables at coin shows, which I would love to do more often, I just feel like shows are more for dealers to sell than to buy...if this is not the case, tell me a way I can do it better!...Do you think that the prices DLRC gave are close to what are offered at a show???


Edited to say...I don't think the coins themselves would make that much of a difference, because they would probably be considered widgets....(a Liberty nickel,couple of Buffalo nickels,common date Morgan Dollar)...just wonder if dealer "X" at a coin show would have paid similar to DLRC that has auctions that seem to run daily.

DLRC also buys and sells at shows, so the price you obtained is likely what you would have obtained had you brought the pieces to a show and sold them. In the few instances that I had offered a piece to DLRC, they have been quite prompt in their offer and have actually paid well in an instant or two.

Never sold them a coin, but bought a couple that later upgraded.

I've sold quite a few coins to David Lawrence, mostly buy backs. All of them except for one were extremely fair. The one
exception was an NGC MS67 1940-D Washington quarter I had bought from them a few years back. While at the Long
Beach show, I spotted the 34-D Buffalo nickel in my sigline, well I must have had "desperation" written on my forehead,
because I ended up letting the quarter go for much less than I could of received had I been able to shop the coin around.

Traded a real pig 1920S mercury dime to them for a nice 1925P stander. Man was I glad to get rid of the pig merc. BTW the merc was won in one of their auctions. One other time a bunch of mercs were sent to them for trade or cash. All were in NGC holders and at the time they had very few NGC slabbed coins on their web site and they actually did very little with NGC slabs. Because of this, I guess, a very low ball offer was submitted to me. I refused the offer and the coins were sent back to me. Eventually four of the mercs crossed to PCGS holders so you know the coins were not dogs.

My experiences have been so so you could say.

Oh no, dealers come to buy. It is just that a dealer might not buy everything you have to offer. Many dealers specialize in certain coins. You might have a nice coin but they will not buy it because that is not their area. You might have to shop it around to several dealers before getting an offer you like.
