Scrip, the unclean coin

I have attached a pic of a coal scrip dollar from Bowyer WV. Bowyer was the first coal mining operation at Whitby WV. In fact, Bowyer was the town name until about 1927. I thought this would be OK as we had already discussed the idea of cleaned coins versus those coins which are better off not cleaned.

This dollar has been in a miners hands and it is not a very common piece. In fact, I think its under rated as a r9, r10 being the rarest.

This is a DIRTY coin. Thank God.

NOTE: the spelling of Bowyer on the coin is Boyer. This is the pronounciation of the word, but all maps and rail references list the spelling as Bowyer.
