I just went thru a couple of pages of shared submissions, there seems to be one or a few bodybags on each submission. Is PCGS really TIGHT right now?!?!?!
I wish PCGS would give a detailed summary on why they thought the coin was cleaned or deemed "altered surface". I think it would help to educate their customers. But I guess they would be shooting themselves in the foot if they did that, right?

It would feel better knowing where your submission fee went if you could get an explanation as to why the coin did not grade.....

cleaned is often self-evident. Altered surface designation should have some sort of explanation.

Yeah, I was leaning more towards "Altered surface" or "Environmental damage", which is open for detailed interpretation. I haven't had any body bags yet, but if I do I would want to know why.
That is gonna hurt for a little while. Kinda hard to consider it a lesson if you don't learn anything from the experience and PCGS certainly doesn't seem to offer much guidance in these situations.

I just received grades on my 32 Dimes and 2 I sent in were Bagged. Sometimes you take a chance to see if PCGS will grade them. Not saying that this is what I did, but...

I agree, it would be very nice to have a brief note if nothing else on the reason. I received a body bag in my results today. It would make the lost grading fee sting somewhat less
Witty sig line currently under construction. Thank you for your patience.
There is a certain amount of luck. One of the posters to this thread had a coin that PCGS graded come back as cleaned when he tried it again. Even PCGS is not consistent with this.

I guess they could just say --- EBAY PURCHASE instead
My first invoice was just like that, you learn by doing. Hopefully that person takes the $60 worth of grading fees and turns it into thousands of dollars worth of knowledge...

I dunno. Maybe there are two more cleaned coins in PCGS holders.
If enough submitters would be willing to pay $50 to $100 for the SERVICE, they'd probably provide it.
Of course, very few of you would "pay" the additional cost for the info.
You get what you pay for, or in this case what you don't.

Actually, I did come across a raw ebay-bought Walker that graded 65 recently.
So you do find that needle in a haystack once in a (great) while.
