Off center lincolns, when are they worth a premium?
I bought a couple rolls of pennies last night and was looking at them while waiting to pick up my wife from her teachers meeting. As I sat in the car, looking for errors / wheaties, keepers, etc. I found one coin that was off center. It was not major, I have seen pictures of off center coins that actually cut off parts of key elements.
This off center penny had absolutely no rim for about 1/3 of the coin starting at about the 8:00 postition to about the 1:00 position I think. I don't have it with me and I am at work. The "In god we trust"was completely to the edge of the coin but was NOT chopped off. The opposite edge of the coin was extra thick where the rim was.
My question is at what point do off center strikes become worth saving for value? I have heard people talk about off center percents. What percent would this one be off center? I do not have my camera set up yet for coin pictures because I am in a new house and I need to buy a better desk / table and make a permanent coin picture taking setup.
Thanks,
