1802 half dime PCGS VF30 for sale at David Lawrence
Seems like a very nice higher graded circulated example. Any of the bust half dime experts here can tell the provenance of this wonderful piece (although the description says it's new to the census there must be SOME information)? If I had the money I would immediately pull the trigger, although I'm not a bust collector (only the seated baby's for me) I wouldn't mind own this wonderful example of a very rare and recognized coin.....

<< <i>My suggestion: if you need one BUY IT! >>
I need one. But I also need someone to give me about $150,000 so I can...

I'll be sure to write you a check at Central States...
It really is a nice coin. It appears a little dark, but it is extremely attractive and has a lot of meat in the details.
We haven't handled one of these in about 5 years or so and it is a super coin, so we're proud to have our hands on it for a little while...

Guess this one is being cross-marketed. Sort of like Heritage's Virtual Bourse, I suppose.

With a cool coin like an 1802 half dime in VF, wouldn't the accurate term be "happy-marketed" rather than "cross-marketed"?

I wonder what the reserve on that baby is? It's at $117,500 now and reserve not yet met.
<< <i>I would say it's already a pretty steep price. Maybe $90,000 to 100,000 would have been my guess, but what Legend said is true that "these only show up every couple of years.
