ebay - neg question

do you leave a neg for non-paying bidders for low $ items or just let it go to avoid negative retaliation?

Thanks,

David (LD_Ferg)

The one neg I do have is a retaliation neg after I left one on a guy for $1.49. I was pissed and wouldn't let it go so it was worth it.

I believe that if somebody screws you, you neg him - period.

  • I think you have to NEG the non paying bidders. Otherwise your not doing the eBay community any good.

NEG 'em and let the chips falls. Perfect feedback is nice and all but as long as you have consistant good feedback, an occassional negative is easily explained away.
  • I think each situation is different -

For example, I just bought a card for 99 cents that was described as being "real crisp and near mint". When I received the card, it had a soft corner, paper loss on the front and fingernail scratches over the paper loss. I emailed the seller and explained that I couldnt use the card since it was not in the condition that I thought it to be. Add to that the fact that he charged me $1.50 for shipping and put the thing in a small 39 cent stamped envelope. He offered a full refund and even agreed to pay my return postage. For that he will still receive a positive feedback since he handled it the right way. If he handled it poorly, I'd neg him.

    Agreed

  • Every situaton is different. But non paying bidders usually deserve a neg.

I purchased some items (team pictures) just before Christmas that have yet to arrive. I spoke with the seller, who has HIGH Postive feedback. He said he shipped, I suspect he did. He said he would replace but I had to pay a HIGH shipping price to reship. I decided it was NOT worth it but I did not NEG him. I just did not leave feedback in this instance.

NEVER hesistate to give a justifed neg just because you fear retaliation. If you do, you're giving the bad Ebayer exactly what they want.

if you have enough feedback that it isn't going to make you look horrible at first glance, then consider doing it. Also, keep in mind that if he Negs you back, you CAN post a well thought out reply in your feedback to it! If you neg him, don't post nasty childish stuff....make it professional.

on the other hand, if you don't have much feedback and his neg might drop you down a few percentage points, I think I'd hold off.

At the very least, post this turd's ID here so we can all block him.

Indeed, you definetly need to post a response to his retalitory feedback letting people know that the seller does indeed retaliate in feedback. That'll definetly make potential buyers think twice about buying stuff from retaliators. sportsvaluez, I'm looking in your direction. image

Can someone clear this up for me -

If you have a non-paying bidder, and you go through the process with eBay and they refund your fees - I thought that bidder could then not leave you any feedback at all, but you can still leave him a neg. If it doesn't work this way, it should. The NPB has no right to any feedback at that point.

"on the other hand, if you don't have much feedback and his neg might drop you down a few percentage points, I think I'd hold off"

This is where I think ebay should factor number of purchases or sales on ebay total and not to specific people.
I will but quite often from the same person to save on shipping. If I pay for 5 items from one person why is it viewed differently than if I bought from 5 different people?
1 negative will hurt my 285 rating even though I have 860 positive feedbacks.

Would you guys leave a neg for a guy who shipped a $75 card in an envelope, with no bubble mailer, nothing? Or just a positive with some explanation... it's a GEM MT 10 1980 Carew that has a ding right next to the bottom plastic part of the holder. I'm pretty sure that it happened as a result of shipping, b/c I can't see the ding in the auction's scan.

I have left negatives for sellers and buyers when it is deserved- i.e. no communication- bad shippers who are lazy and pack my item in a Grits or oatmeal box with no protection and sellers/buyers who are out of their minds ect ect ") so far so good. Mike
