Shipping charge question for multiple card auctions on ebay

I charge $1.75 for a single cardboard card on ebay. Each additional card I sell I charge an extra 25 cents. Fair, right?

What's fair to charge someone who buys 29 cards from me from 29 different auctions in terms of shipping?

My $1.75/.25 shipping policy is way too high in this case.

If they are all raw, I think $5 or $6 would be very fair.

I would go with 29 x $1.75 which is $50.75, then put them in a regular white envelope with no protection. You gotta learn how to cut corners if you're gonna make it on ebay.

Not sure I fully understand but I think you sold 29 cards.

    1 card .................1.75
    28 cards x.25.....7.00

    total...................8.75

not out of line at all.

I'd charge the 8.75 and would not think I was gouging at all.

especially if these are all 1.00 cards?

    Good for you.
  • Just charge what is fair and reasonable based on your cost (postage, supplies, etc). You'll please a lot of people and get repeat business by being fair.

It's good to see that you recognize the unreasonableness of the formula in this case. Kudos...

I agree with WP. If you want to cut the guy a deal, shave a buck or 2 off. Or send them priority so he gets them within 2 days of payment.

I never really care about what I pay for combined shipping as long as it gets to me quickly.

Another thing is, you may want to put in your auctions from now on, a MAX shipping of say $5.00. That may get some guys to go nuts on your auctions to try to get a "deal" of 29 cards for $5.00 shipping.

  • Read and appreciate above comments.

    They were mostly $1 cards.

While packaging is less time consuming than for sending the cards to 29 different people, putting 29 vintage cards together securely still takes time.

    I'll go $6.

  • The nice thing is the buyer did go nuts since I put so many up for auction to end last night and only about 1/3 were outbid by others.

Good point about the max shipping. I'll consider it in the future if I sell a lot of stuff at once.
