What I mean is, I have a several.....GW coins with the extra spike in the crown...
I know this is a kinda well known die clash...But I went through $2000 GW to find 4 of these....
My question is this...How many coins/submissions does it take to designate a variety....or error?
I mean lets say I had had 2 coins with a Wisconsin error leaf......And just wanted to submit to PCGS ....and tell them I have this particular error or variety...
Would they designate it as one? What if I submitted it with my own name type variety? as the "extra Spike?....Would they ignore that, and
just put what they thought it was on the slab?.....
Any thoughts would be helpful thank you..........

Do they have to see 20=40 of them first? what if I am an original......Or very scarse..what will they - or decide to put on their slab..?????
I mean look at the couple who had the blank planchant with edge lettering.....they didnt wait to see a few...they designated it right away..
So, what makes a cetain coin designate right away...variety or error..
hope that explains it more...thaks
I am talking the extra spike...which is more valuable then any smooth edge...
Since a superb die clash is worth more?
Please let me know,..thank you..
design change. There are no $1 Washingtons varieties known at this time
They are either perfect coins or error coins

Both if the above coins are errors and not varieties and the general collecting population were just waiting for them to appear.
From a variety standpoint, a die clash just does not qualify.
Generally speaking, PCGS only recognizes valid varieties and error's. Special coins such as the Speared Bison get designation through public appeal although not many on this board will speak highly of the Speared Bison "die Gouge".
The Wisconsin Extra Leak quarters qualify as varieties as they represent a change to the design on the die that was made to produced them. Not an authorized change but a change none the less.
If you were to send your coins in, regardless of how difficult they were for you to find, you have a slim to none chance of getting them designated. More than likely, PCGS would just grade them as Washington Dollars and return them to you. And it does not matter one bit what you put on the submission form. I know as I have been there and done that!
