Merc

Anyone think this is a fake besides me? It doesn't look right, and the 4 isn't doubled...

Absolutely no way in the hot place is this genuine.

You almost have to buy a coin like the 2/1 certified!!! It may cost you a little more, but it is worth it (IMO)...and if I was looking to buy one, it was almost have to be ANACS or PCGS...buy the coin, not the holder, yes...but you are buying the authentication also in this case...and those 2 are the best!

I contacted the seller to let him know- if you look at the picture in the new CPG, the 4 is very doubled (it's a doubled die, after all!), and the 1 is further to the left and is sharp, with a serif...this was his reply:

The date is doubled on a 42/1-D

Unfortunately, someone is going to pay a lot of money for this fake and this seller may lose his 100% feedback after 2600 transactions, as I'm positive he's not deliberately trying to rip anyone off...at least I tried to help!

UPDATE: The seller has cancelled the auction...I guess I wasn't the only one who emailed to say it was a fake. Hopefully he's not out too much money. The sad thing is, it had bids and was pushing $500!
