Can you guess the grade of the 66 Mantle?
Guys
As some of you may know I am building a 1966 Topps baseball set raw.
I figured it wiser to buy the Mantle graded, that way I would have no worries.
Can you guess the grade of this example?

Steve
Edited to add: the bottom left corner is all there it appears funky due to the scan. The card has no creases.

The guy had 4's and 5's and the 3 IMO was the best!
The 4's he had had crunched corners or the centering was dog.
the 5 was well OC.
This 3 IMO has honest wear, and is centered decently. The missing ink on the Micks face is the only thing that bothered me.
It fits nicely into the set I'm building.
I thought myself that it is undergraded.
btw I bought it from Levi.
It came within 36 hrs of my purchase. I did not have to bid against anyone for a raw OC possibly doctored may never come card.
Yes I paid 4 money for it.
Steve
That has to be one of the nicest 3's I have seen,I would never
have guessed it being lower then a 4.Nice pickup.

I think $100 is a very fair price for the card.
I had figured it was a 3, but a very, very nice one at that. Between the issues on Micks face and the corners it seemed a bit much for anything higher.
That being said I would have paid PSA 4 money for it also. You just cant beat low grade cards (especially of the Mick) when the centering and eye appeal are as solid as that card.
Congrats
Here is an example of eye appeal over grade that I picked up 2 weeks ago. It has all the attributes of a very nice PSA 7 and possibly PSA 8 but has a tiny, almost undetectable 1/4 surface wrinkle at the very bottom center.

i agree if you can live with a defect and get that type of eye appeal I say go for it.
