orange refractor 2006 Bowman chrome autograph surface flaws

These orange refractor autographs and blue refractor (green rookie cards of Fielder, Kenji, Loney, Carmona and Barfield) almost all have some type of surface flaw.
The surface flaw goes from the top of the card near the 'n' in the word Bowman straight down sometimes nearly the whole length of the card.
You are not alone if you got one of these cards. They nearly all have some kind of mark there.
some have only a brown/black machine mark, others have a long smear in the varnish.
However not all of these cards had the surface flaw.
Any printing experts out there who know what this flaw is caused by?
What I'm wondering is why Bowman would sell this sloppy product. Can't they just fix the machine and burn the first print run? Don't they have QC?
Anybody out there who has noticed this and is willing to talk about it? I have a feeling this won't be a popular topic with people who know about it....

  • You might do better with this on the Beckett boards. Lots of modern collectors over there, especially of the Bowman Chrome variety.

    I broke a 12 box case on this product. I did get a carmona orange refractor auto. It came out perfect with no print marks/lines. My blue refractor autos came out very nice as well. However, almost all my base autos had the lines your talking about. They look nasty.
  • Yeah, sure I'll go write my comment on Beckett... sigh;
