Duke4life

For the 3rd time in the last 6 months they failed to deliver an order to me.

This time around I had won something like 7 or 8 cards, all low pop PSA 9's and 10's for my player and teams sets, and all at what I thought were great prices.

The previous two orders had roughly the same number of cards per order.

Although I received a refund there is still something that doesnt sit right with me. I know, I know...why did I place another order with them if there was already two previous problems ? I can only say that these were cards I really wanted and figured it was just bad luck in the past and it couldnt possibly happen again. It just makes me feel like after 3 times now there is something fishy going on, like maybe they didnt get the price they wanted for the cards and just decided to play the refund game.

Though they refunded my $$ all 3 times the customer service is pitiful. Not once in dealing with them did they respond to my questions or concerns and only refunded the $$ after a paypal claim had been filed.

Anyone else have similar problems with them ?

I have had dealings with this guy frequently over the last year and a half or so. Some mailings were slow, but generally everything was A-OK. If there was ever a problem, he would always make good. There was one specific issue, a few months back, where I bought a "lot" of about 15 PSA 10's from Johnathan. When they arrived, one was a PSA 9. He refunded the card + shipping and told me to keep the card for his mistake. Based on my experiences, if there was a problem with something you bought from him, I would have to believe that it was legitimate.

    Good luck.

Well, like I said he did make good on refunds each time, but never once did I receive a reply and it just seems odd to the point of difficult to believe that there would be 3 instances of the cards not getting here when I havnt had 3 such instances total in the past few years from all sellers combined.

I've probably won 50+ auctions from Duke4Life (currently known as psa-set-guy) over the past couple years, and I've never had a problem with him. Granted, I'm not one of those people who email the seller the day after my payment asking where my card is, but he seems to ship every card in a reasonable time. Usually I receive the card a week to a week and a half after I send the payment. I'm shocked that you would have this type of service from him, he's one of my favorite sellers!

I dealt with him once and did not have any problems. He seems like he was ok, I don't remember anything that was that bad about him.

I have bought about ten items from him over the last 6 months. I have had small problems with receiving the wrong card, late shipping and such but he always made good on it.

I have, for this seller and others, had to request paypal dispute to get them to answer emails at all which is pretty sad but it works so I guess I'll just keep playing the game as I love to use eBay/paypal to buy 10-20 items a week.

Communication is not valued by many a seller. As long as they get their money and ship the card within a day or two they are happy to let communication fall by the wayside. I wish this was the exception but it seems to be the rule.

Have you received tracking numbers for your packages? Any chance your mailman is a card collector?

Alot of small/medium sellers are getting pretty disenchanted with selling cards
on EBAY. A shakeout is probably in the making.

A combination of factors have removed all of the fun and most of the profit
from selling non-rare cards on the venue.

Fewer sellers will allow prices to climb over time, and more/better sellers
    will likely jump back in.

I have dealt with him several times, including when he was first starting out. He has made more than good on the problems I have run across - missing cards in orders were replaced with higher value material when he couldn't locate them.

How much did the cards go for? If you really 'stole' them then I could see him pulling a move like this, but if the price was more-or-less in the range you would expect the card(s) to sell for it would seem kind of silly to risk angering a regular buyer with penny-ante tactics like these.

Did you guys see his ad in the new SMR? He must be bringing in some cash for a full page ad in that. It is in the beginning, the blue one for the psa set guy.

I never received as much as one word in response any time there was a problem.

As for the mailman thing, I receive anywhere between 5-25 card related packages a week and over the past couple of years have had maybe a half dozen not show up. When 50% of the packages that were " lost " in transit were from the same seller I would tend to believe the problem may not lie with my postal carrier.

I have dealt with this seller many times on Ebay and in private sales and even though a couple of orders were a little slow, he has always delivered what I bought. I live in the Peoples Republic of Maryland and expect it take take around a week or so. It usually does. I'm sorry for your misfortune.

Is it possible you pi$$ed the guy off at one time and he doesn't want to sell to you? If so maybe have one of your friends bid on the next thing you really want (if you find something you can't live without) and see if it gets through. I know it's not likely but you never know.

I've bought at least a dozen cards from him and I never recall the shipment taking more than 4-5 days.

Strange your having problems with him. I have bought from him too many times to count and have never had a problem or even a mistake.

He even emails me when he is getting ready to list Emmitt cards image

The shipping is a little slow but I have always got what I paid for.
