Home Buy, Sell & Trade - Cards & Memorabilia

Hello everyone

Hello everyone,
I've been reading the boards for a little while now, and enjoying all the friendly banter and card wisdom. After a few years, and much deliberation, I've renewed my collector's club membership. My 6 freebies are being shipped, and I have 29 others (spring training special) that are probably in the middle 1/3 of their stay at PSA. These were 35 cards that one by one I had come into my collection over the spam of a few years and I'd say "If I ever join again these are going in" Actually, there were like 50 in that pile, but when you're spending good money, the lighted 10X magnifier comes out, and that pile gets smaller and smaller. I'm writng all this because I'd like to be a part of the vintage board and introduce myself to you all. I'm Nick, and I hope to be able to continue to learn from you guys, as well as add to the vintage info being doled out, and get to know everyone in the very near future. My quote below can really bite me in the butt one day on these boards, but oh well. Thanks.

    I collect, buy, and sell 1952 through 1973 Topps. Of the 6 freebies I sent in to PSA I pre graded them as 6 6 7 7 8 9 and PSA said 6 6 7 8 7 9. So 4 the same, 1 better, and 1 worse.

I was afraid I'd see that question. There's a story behind the 6 freebies. I went to the Philly show just to drop off (without joining as I have done before) but they caught on to me this time. So of the 35 cards I had brought, 31 fit into the Spring training special (1967 to present) but 4 were older. I used those 4 and 2 from the other 31, and thats how I got those 6 to be the membership cards. I'd rather tell that story first before telling the 6 cards because you'd all say "why those 6 for the freebies". They were:

    1952 Topps #216 Richie Ashburn - predicted a 6 and got a 6
    1952 Topps #159 Saul Rogovin - predicted a 6 and got a 6
    1962 Topps #278 Ken Johnson - predicted a 7 and got a 7
    1962 Topps #342 Ed Rakow - predicted a 7 and got an 8
    1972 Topps # 49 Willie Mays - predicted an 8 even dreamed of a 9 and got a 7 (I guess I missed something there)
    1982 Fleer # 176 Cal Ripken Jr. - predicted a 9 and got a 9

Someone just posted that he got a 6 day turnaround on the March $5 special. He says his date received was 3/15 and grades posted 3/21. He even gave the sub number and zip code so we could view. Maybe PSA entered him in under the wrong/faster service? (great for him). As for the other 29 cards I submitted (I hand delivered the 29 cards to PSA at the Philly show on March 3rd at the March $5 level) nothing popping yet. Here is what I keep looking at:

    Date Received: 03/12/2007
Date of Grades Posted: No Date Specified
    Date Shipped: No Date Specified

Where's my 6 day turnaround? Mine took 9 days just to get logged in, and I HAND DELIVERED THEM!!! LOL
