Removing Perforated Cards from Sheets

I picked up a few sheets of cards that are perforated around the edges, similar to the SI for Kids cards. Does anybody have any recommendations on ways to remove the cards from the sheets while maintaining the cards in the best condition possible?

What standards does PSA use for grading cards coming from perforated sheets?

Thanks in advance for your help!!

A couple things to remember with perforated cards is:

    1. Do not use scissors. Cutting along lines will only give you a "trimmed" card.

    2. You can lightly score them along the perforation making it easier to tear them without incurring paper loss along the edges. I believe this is the most important factor the graders look at when grading these cards. Paper loss will give you an 8 at the best.

I sent in 10 1993 Mcdonalds Gameday cards a few months ago and did quite well. Just take your time and you should do well.

  • Ooops...messed up my last post.

Anyway, so would you just take an exacto knife or something and lightly run it along the perforation?

As long as the blade is new and sharp that should be fine. Just lightly , dont overdo it.
  • Thanks for your help! I'll go out and get some new sharp blades and give it a try.
