BGS 9.5 crossing over to PSA10

I am trying to crossover my post war HOF and future HOF cards to PSA. I have 3 BGS 9.5 cards that I only want
to crossover if they will be a PSA10. I guess the only way to find out is to send them in with the Min Grade of 10.

I was just curious whether BGS9.5 typically do come back as PSA10 (I guess I should have asked that last year when I bought them!!).

Thanks,

Dan

Below are the 3 cards, I guess these scans may not help much.

Bgs is so inconsistent now, you will really need to look over these cards before you send them in. I like finding older Bgs slabs to crack because once upon a time, Bgs was really tough.

    Jones - yes
    Thomas - yes
    Biggio - no

But I hope all 3 cross for you.

I still to new to this hobby to tell the difference between a PSA9 or 10. I think I'll send them all in and see who gets the crossover grades correct!
    Thanks again.

If you do a board search on "crossovers," the overwhelming majority of the posters will tell you to crack the card out of the slab it's in before submitting.

Submitting a card to PSA with a BGS 9.5 slab and asking for a minimum grade of 10 is like burning your money.

GO MARLINS! Home of the best fans in baseball!!
  • Sell the BGS's and by them already in a PSA 10 slab. You will be way ahead and won't have to worry.

I understand what you are saying. However, if there's still a premium for BGS9.5 over PSA9 if it didn't crossover
I could get more money if I left it a BGS9.5 than if I tried to sell the PSA9. Correct??
My goal is to get a PSA10 for each card. If the BGS9.5's don't make it, I am going to sell them.
    Thanks.

OK, I didn't listen to the advice to sell the BGS's and buy PSA 10's. I had to find out for myself
how PSA would grade these cards. I agreed with BOB C that Jones & Thomas would be 10's
    and Biggio would be M/G.

I just received the PSA grades:
Jones M/G (this card looks perfect to me)
    Thomas M/G
    Biggio PSA 10

Go figure!! I guess I'll try to get PSA 10 replacements then sell the BGS 9.5's. The problem
is that PSA 10 Topps Tiffany's for Chipper Jones and Frank Thomas RC's don't come up that
    often.

Thanks for the advice, I should have listened to the forum (at least one made it).

  • Jones 10
    Biggio 9
    Thomas 9 (a 10 eventually)

    I hope you didn't crack.

The Biggio looks to have the worst centering of the three.

Imagine that, the cheapest card got the bump. Crack and submit the Thomas and Jones. Personally though, I would have sold those three in the BGS holders and then bought them in the PSA holders. No games to play, save the money and being they're modern cards, you probably would get more in the bgs holders than you'd have to pay in the PSA 10 holders.

Yuck! I agree, the cheapest and the ugliest got the crossover. Those tiffanys look sweet to me.
If you're a gambling man; I'd say crack 'em out, but I can understand why you did it the way you did.
I would never send anything in a holder for crossover. Too easy for them to just take your money
and put M/G. Those tiffanys look perfect to me.
