Me too but without penny sleeves. At least for modern cards that is. Older "non shiney" cards should be fine in penny sleeves long term.

I have had too many problems with newer cards reacting with penny sleeves after being stored a while.

    The cards were actually ruined.

Agreed. I had the same problem with penny's but with card saver II's. Anyhow. I store all my cards from 1988 and back with penny sleeves and anything newer without

Well a minor issue is the fact that the card surface becomes very "clowdy". Cards that have been stored long term have to be wiped with a soft cloth to get the gunk off.

The major issue I have had was a bunch of Bowman Chrome cards actually developed "pits" all over the surface. These cards are worthless now.
  • thanks for the replys putting these sets together from when I started collecting, just want to protect them .Hopefully my sons will treasure them when I'm gone

Weird lmman, I know you've mentioned that before. I would suppose some chemicals within the glossy card itself react badly with the penny sleeves. Card saver IIs should work OK tho, as will 100% mylar holders (you might check egerber supplies, or Jef Hinds comics for supplies of mylar holders.)
