Highlights from my December $6 Special submission (w/scans)

25 HOFers submitted on the "$6 per card/less than $75 value" December special. Took a month and a half to pop, but worth the wait. Here are the highlights:

1957 Kaline bought raw at a local show, March 1, 2003
1958 Reese bought raw from my favorite shop, July 27, 2002

1961 Fox MVP & 1962 Ashburn both bought raw from my favorite shop, December 28, 2004

1957 Doby bought raw from my favorite shop, November 19, 2004
1959 Kaline bought raw from a local shop, December 22, 2006

Saved the best for last. From the 185 vintage Topps HOFers I've submitted since I joined PSA at the Chicago National in July 2005, I received four "9's". In this 25-card order, THREE "9's" came back. Here they are:

1964 All-Star Vets: Fox & Killebrew bought raw off eBay August 16, 2003

1968 Topps Game Mantle bought raw at a local show, October 14, 2006 (my 1st Mantle in "9"!)
1968 Topps Game Clemente bought raw as part of a complete set, February 10, 2005 (my 1st Clemente in "9"!)

Very nice cards, I really like that Killebrew/Fox card. Did you ask for no qualifiers because that 57 Kaline looks a little too off center to be a 7

It only has to be 75%/25% to be a 7.

Those cards are SWEET!! May I ask how much you spent on the raw Mantle at that show?

Thats some nice stuff! Thanks for taking the time to scan them and show 'em.

You obviously keep track of when and how much you purchased each card for. Do you save the record on your computer or just write it down?

I would be afraid to see my list if I did something like that. I sometimes pay too much for card I just have to have image

The '68 Mantle and Clemente go for significantly more than $75... How did you pull that off?

    Excellent grades! Congrats image
So basically my kid won't be able to go to college, but at least I'll have a set where the three most expensive cards are of a player I despise ~ CDsNuts

I am jealous. You received your grades in six weeks. I have been waiting nearly eight.

Thanks for the kind words, guys. In answer to your questions:

jeffcbay -- $30 for the raw Mantle

quik -- Sorry, none are for sale

lawnmowerman -- I'm an obsessive record-keeper, everything's entered into Excel spreadsheets. I can tell you where, when and how much I paid for every card in my collection (tracking my collection is one of the things I most enjoy about the hobby).

stown -- I had no idea they'd come back as "9's", but my rule of thumb (from CarolJ, no less) is that using the PSA 6 price for raw submitted vintage is fair enough when determining value and whether or not a card is eligible under a certain "Special." Of course, the problem with that is if the cards were lost or destroyed in transit back to me, I'd only be able to claim my declared value, which was PSA 6 across the board. Luckily, my submissions have always found their way to back my mailbox.
