tell me about it. I should be sitting in Orlando right now instead of my desk in Columbus Ohio.
Our 7:30am flight out of Columbus never arrived from NY this morning, so there was no way to make our connection in DC. So much for a weekend in the sun on the company dime.
We can handle it but our flight is scheduled out of Portland (Maine) tomorrow morning with Jet Blue. Hopefully things are cleared up a little before we drive to the airport.

A WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 4 PM THIS AFTERNOON TO 2 PM EDT SATURDAY.
SNOW IS EXPECTED TO DEVELOP AROUND THE REGION LATE THIS AFTERNOON AND CONTINUE INTO TONIGHT. THE SNOW WILL THEN MIX WITH AND THEN CHANGE TO SLEET AND THEN FREEZING RAIN LATE TONIGHT. THE FREEZING RAIN WILL THEN GO TO ALL RAIN SATURDAY MORNING. SNOWFALL ACCUMULATIONS OF 4 TO 7 INCHES OF WET SNOW CAN BE EXPECTED WITH TOTAL ICE ACCUMULATIONS UP TO ONE HALF OF AN INCH PRIOR TO THE CHANGEOVER TO ALL RAIN.
THIS STORM WILL HAVE A HIGH IMPACT ON THE WARNING AREA. A COMBINATION OF HEAVY SNOW AND NORTHEAST WINDS OF 20 TO 30 MPH WILL CREATE VERY HAZARDOUS CONDITIONS. VISIBILITIES WILL FREQUENTLY BE LESS THAN ONE HALF MILE IN FALLING SNOW WITH OCCASIONAL BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW CAUSING NEAR WHITEOUTS. IN ADDITION TO THE SNOW WILL BE THE ICING POTENTIAL WITH WIND AS THE SNOW CHANGES OVER TO FREEZING RAIN LATE TONIGHT INTO SATURDAY MORNING. THIS COULD LEAD TO SOME POWER OUTAGES.
We've got a flood and high wind watch as well but it's just part of life living up here in Maine.
Yesterday the snow was gone and I was out in a t-shirt raking the lawn and picking up branches from the winter. Swept the driveway and was ready for Spring.
Today it's 21 degrees....blowing snow and we here in the hills of central, MA are expected to get as much as a foot+ of snow...
No worries, more green beer will make it all better!!
At least you guys have driveways and garages, my truck is parked on the sidewalk, all 4 wheels. My wife's car will be in the garage a quarter mile away when she gets home at the height of the storm. Nothing like city living, all the houses around here were built in the 1880s and 90s, cars weren't invented and everyone built houses about 8-10 feet apart to be as close to town as possible. The neighborhood is great, but the parking during snow emergencies isn't fun at all. At least we're on the water, the change over to rain should be a little quicker, I should get a few inches less than Rip, who is only 10-12 miles away.
Yes, it is depressing. On Wednesday I broke out the golf clubs, went to the driving range and hit a bucket of balls, then cleaned the clubs up and prepared for the great season known as Golf Season.
Today, I broke out the snow shovel and snow duster to dig my car out of the snow this morning, then a 20 mile drive home took 1.5 hours thanks to the roads being covered in ice and my hometown deciding that the roads I use to drive home aren't worthy of being plowed. Down at the coast it was only about 4 inches of snow and then the ice started to take over. Here where I am (right around Norwich) there's 8 inches at least and the ice has just started to come down.
I collect the elements on the periodic table, and some coins. I have a complete Roosevelt set, and am putting together a set of coins from 1880.
I've shoveled twice since I got home from work around 4pm. It looks like I didn't even shovel. The wind is really blowing this stuff around here. I'm one town north of Boston. I'll go out again when the rain starts. Get all the snow up before it freezes. Hard to believe it was 73 here on Wednesday!
I don't know how it turned out for the rest of you New Englanders, but here in the Bar Harbor area we only got a few inches topped with some freezing rain. Not nearly as bad as they said it would be.
Either way, it's a good day to stay home, surf CU, Ebay and snuggle up on the couch with my wife.
I'd say we got at least 6 inches in the Machias area but it could be more as it's so wet it compacted itself down.
Sucks for shoveling because it's so heavy (I am sore and tired) but I cheat anyway because I have a u-shaped driveway so I drive the 4X4 in and out the driveway until it's packed down real good and only have the mailbox, around the vehicles, doorstep and the ends of the driveway to shovel.
There's a very thick layer of ice on top of the 7 or 8 inches of snow we got. The rain that came late last night must have melted away a few inches which then turned into ice. It's a really weird feeling walking on TOP of the snow on the front lawn. Hard to believe the ice can support my 160 pound mass.

I live in Southern NJ and we were south of the rain/ice line the entire storm and I am thankful for that. I love winter weather as much as the next snow weenie but its mid March and I am ready for spring! No shoveling here!
A lot of the snow is gone but the driveway is still a mess.
I haven't been out since this morning but the roads are a lot clearer now. It was pretty bad driving this morning and had 5 deer pop out in front of me and of course the idiot tailgating me didn't have a clue as to why I was stopping but finally clued in before he rammed into me. Never ceases to amaze me that no matter how bad the roads get I seem to always get the moron behind me that wants to drive 55 mph.

Shoveled about 6 inches of frozen, compact slush/snow/water this morning. Very heavy stuff. The warm temps melted the roads clear.
Should all be gone by midweek. Come on spring!
