Duke is to basketball what ND is to football with respect to ratings and post-season treatment.
  • while other teams practice playing basketball, duke players practice their acting skills.

Duke has an image of spoiled rich kids and elitist attitudes, that doesn't play well with a lot of people.

Well, as the resident Kentucky fan, we of course don't take too kindly to the Dukes. But that's okay, we've got the upset of the tournament coming up Sunday when we will shock Kansas! GO BIG BLUE!!! image

No, let me tell you about priceless. In the 1998 Duke/Kentucky game (the real greatest game ever played), we came back from 17 down with nine something minutes left in the game to upset them (just like in 1992, they were top seeded and top ranked, though they weren't the defending champs this time) and go to the Final Four and then our championship. But after that big victory, our local newspaper had a mini-poster of Scott Padgett (key KY player at the time) making a key shot, and does anyone want to take a guess who was in the background, on his knees? image

I'll give you a hint, the fact he done burned up all his timeouts so early contributed to our big comeback. image

Actually they don't, their basketball image suffers from the Fab Five still. Lower income kids caught up in side deals to enrich them and not student athletes.

Opps, sorry, I thought you were talking about me. image The University of Michigan does indeed have an elitist and spoiled rich kids reputation
at least among Michigan State fans. image A popular bumper sticker seen around East Lansing is "They call it maize, we call it corn".
That said, I really like Ann Arbor as a city, it is more cosmopolitan than East Lansing and the annual outdoor art fair in the summer is great to
    go to.
