Grades Received

I haven't done much buying lately, but I sent in some raw coins for my 8 free gradings and received the results today. These were coins that I'd bought 20-40 years ago. Six of them will go into registry sets. Overall, I'm pleased, especially with the 1911-P Lincoln (purchased 11/5/74 for a whopping $17), which I knew was a no-brainer 66. The 1875-CC 20 center is better than than I expected. My only disappointments were the 2 highest denominations. The Bust Half was body bagged (thought it would be AU), and the 1973-D Ike was a 65 (I thought it was a lock 66!).

It's encouraging enough for me to consider submitting some more!

  • Congrats on those Lincolns! Hold on to that Ike (or sell it to me). I got a 74-d Ike graded ms65, and I think it's nearly an ms67 coin, and #2 reg set owner and Ike expert jc agreed with me when he saw it. (And I've had ms65 Lincolns upgrade to ms67 4 times!).

Very nice job on all the copper and 20c piece.

Nice $17 investment for that 1911.

    Hi Jim

Being the true Merc guy that you are will the 1911 Lincoln be traded in on a 1921P Merc for your set ?

    Nice grades on the coins.

Lincolnsrule - I'll hang on to the '73-D Ike, because I'm sure it should be a 66. I have other MS66 clad Ikes, and this one blows them away.

Rabbittracks - the '32-P is a beauty, without the spots that are commonly seen on many '32's.

Stone - the 1911-P was out of an original roll that a dealer was breaking up. I wish I'd bought several of them. I wonder if others from that roll have been certified

Ken - yes, I'm still in the market for a nice 1921-P Merc, but I've been a Lincoln collector since I was 6 years old, so the '11-P will go into that set. I have a lot of other early MS Lincoln duplicates that I could submit in bulk that would allow me to purchase the Merc. I just hate to spend so much on grading fees; I'd rather buy coins!
