A"stown"ded!!!! Contest prizes!!! Wow! Also need help with contest question.

Can't say enough tonight that would come close to describing the genorosity of our man stown, who ran a short contest two weeks ago. I collect Aaron, Mays and Clemente. Received not just one but three graded cards, and a few others including a 55 All American. I don't even know what year or make the yellow Ken Snyder card is. Topps or Philadelphia?

Note also the "gag" cards of Bucs and T. Blow. Some sense of humor that man from Houston. Can't forget to mention the special packaging in honor of one of our departed friends. Let's just say that the cards were wrapped in pics that were just "manboob"tastic. image

Thanks again stown!!!!

Now - I would like to return the favor for the board and host a contest. The prize will appeal to Heritage Baseball fans. I worked on the 05 set and reached about 70% Master completion, maybe more. Basics and SPs, no Relics, Chromes or Refractors. The contest winner will receive the whole shebang, including dupes. Currently the card boxes take up most of two 12X12X8 USPS Priority Mail boxes. They have been sitting on a shelf for over a year. One condition. You have to keep them or trade them. No selling my Heritage! Share them with your kids, trade them for other cards, but keep the collecting karma going.

I'll begin the contest near the end of March, just before Opening Day. There will be a week to enter. Entries will have to be in before Opening Day. The question will have something to do with a stat during the month of April. Ex: Total HR's for both league leaders at end of April. The tie breaker will be naming the person who has the most HRs.

Don't really have the question set at the moment and could use some help. Post or PM with some suggestions. It has to be a baseball related question.

Thanks,
Keith

    Yeah, he's a good guy.

Just dont catch him on a day when he didnt have his Twinkie. He's very easily agitated and may be prone to violence.

The Ronde card was there. Touched it ever so slightly and it flew off the scanner. I heard faintly "please no Brandon Jacobs, don't hit me again!"

My pleasure and glad you got them safe and sound. The contest was to bring this forum closer together in time of need.

Watch it, boy, or I'll smack you upside the head with a Barry Sanders, the greatest running back ever.

So basically my kid won't be able to go to college, but at least I'll have a set where the three most expensive cards are of a player I despise ~ CDsNuts

The Snyder is a '55 Bowman.

I recommend you pick a stat where there is likely more variability than total HRs for the 2 league leaders. Realistically, there are only about 10 numbers that can win.

  • Here's some potentials to start thinking:
Most Doubles, Stolen Bases, Walks, either team or player

Individual Innings pitched, lowest ERA, player

If it was the NBA or NFL , I would suggest the team with the most number of crimes charged to the roster , total for year
